About
Lynne Ethier fell into face painting when she was taking theatre makeup workshop in her Professional Cosmetician course in the late 80’s, face painting was new to Ottawa at that time. Lynne was instantly hooked and fell in love with it. The art of face painting combined both her love of the arts and children all in one. To Lynne, a child's face is her canvas!
Lynne was born and raised in the end east of Ottawa, and is presently residing in the Orléans area. She graduated high school with honours in visual arts, went on to take Commercial Art at Algonquin College. She then continued on to pursue a Professional Cosmetician Certificate, where she graduated with honours at the Versailles Academy of Makeup and Esthetics in Ottawa. Lynne continues to pursue her artistic talent and has taken multiple art classes over the years at both the Ottawa School of Art and Nepean School of Art. Lynne has been a member of the Canadian Association of Face and Body Artists (CAFABA) since 2008 and holds liability insurance. She has attended Makeup Conferences in Montreal and Toronto, as well as face and body painting workshops with world renowned face and body makeup artist, such as Jinny MUA, Nick & Brian Wolfe, Mark Reid, Sean Avram and Lucie Brouillard, to name a few.
Lynne is a creative, compassionate, fluently bilingual woman… a renaissance woman. She has been painting with mixed media and drawing/painting with dry pastels since her early teenage years. Along with face painting, Lynne also does body painting. This includes body painting for special events, commercial and for photography, along with gestational BellyART painting.
Over the years Lynne developed her technique for face and body painting and went on to becoming a professional face and body painting artiste in the late 90’s. Lynne only uses professional products designed and formulated for skin. Her current brand of preferred makeup/face paint is water soluble and contains aloe, chamomile, glycerin, avocado oil and cocoa butter to help make it safe and gentle on the skin. The makeup comes off with mild soap and water.
Additional Booking Notes
I do require a table (approx. 3x6') and 2 chairs per face painter. If the event is outdoors I do require to be under a sturdy tent, away from the elements, as sun does damage the paints, as well as droppings from trees too.
I supply everything else.

Influences & Inspiration
My influences, well started back in high school, I would like to bring to life my drawings and I did by painting them on myself. I enjoyed theatre makeup, as well as painting myself and friends for Halloween.
The Cats show influenced me in the beginning, then the Cirque du Soleil makeup, I just love their makeup and costumes, not to mention the show.
The world famous makeup artist that have inspired me and my face painting art work are Jinny (designer of Cirque du Soleil) the Wolfe Brothers, Mark Reid's cats, Sean Avram, and so many, too many to mention.
