Lary is an award winning performance bagpiper who has been entertaining in the Southwest for more than a decade. He will arrive early to your event, properly attired and tuned.
He received his piping education from Lars Sloan of Houston, Texas and Pipe Major Robert G Richardson of Glasgow, Scotland.
Lary can perform for your event in a variety of highland attire including #1 full dress British military with the feather bonnet. Parts of his attire are surplus British military representing several Highland Regiments. To view his photos of him performing go to
Lary was wonderful through and through. Despite the flooding he came through and was in quick communication. The event went flawlessly and he enhanced our experience with his music. He was so personable and answered any guest questions as they came up to him. He brought back the memory of my grandmother as he played "Mairi's Wedding" for my march down the aisle. Thank you, Lary.
Lary has performed at two funerals for our family and has contributed greatly to the graveside ceremony.
Lary came early and was flexible. He was very professional and his performance added greatly to the ceremony at the cemetery. If ever I need a piper again (in his service area), I will definitely solicit his services.
Very touching at a difficult moment...
Larry played and looked great!!!
This was a formal military function with a posting of the colors, etc. Given we are a cavalry "descendent" of the 7th Cavalry that went to war in 1877 to the strains of "Garry Owen" our veterans like to post the colors to that music. It was clear that Lary had done this before; he did an excellent job
Mr Fowler was at the event early and performed admirably. He had a wonderful disposition and made the whole event so much nicer. I would highly recommend him for any event you are planning.
He was waiting for us when the hearse arrived, played a beautiful tune while my mom was carried by the pallbearers to the gravesite. Amazing Grace brought such a soothing peaceful spirit. He was very personable and spoke after to the family about the pipes and showed how they worked. I would hire him again for the next special event. Everyone thought it was a perfect send off for my Scottish heratige mom.
Great job Larry. Thanks for being a big part of our ceremony.
Thanks also for your service to our country; Welcome home brother 🇺🇸
Lary was a great addition to our golfing event. He was punctual and his music had an amazing effect on all of us, especially in this outdoor setting. I would highly recommend him for your event and we look forward to having him back next year. James W.
It was a great experience. The piper was there much prior to the even to ensure that everything was in order and his playing was immaculate during the ceremony and it added a very nice touch to the memorial service. Could not have gone better.
Larry was on time and impeccably dressed for my Mother's graveside service. He and the drummer played 5 of our family's favorite songs. They were both very courteous and professional. I recommend them highly.
Larry provided a great authentic touch to our wedding at Staley Mountain Ranch.
Early, prepared and completely awesome. Without a doubt, the most touching part of my father's funeral at Houston National Cemetery. His slow walk towards and away from my father's ashes while playing Amazing Grace will stay with us forever.
Lary did a wonderful job playing at my dad's funeral. He was in place and playing as we arrived. He finished with 'Amazing Grace', walking slowly up to my dad's ashes before bowing and walking away, the last notes faint in the distance. It was a most touching ceremony all around at the National Cemetery, but Lary's professionalism and utmost respect had us all in tears. Everyone attending had positive comments to make about him.
Our family feels very fortunate that we booked Lary for our private ceremony to honor our mother and spread her ashes. He arrived in plenty of time and was very approachable and comfortable to be with. He lead the family on a 30-minute procession through the woods, playing a variety of soft songs on the smaller Scottish bagpipe. Our walk ended at a clearing where Lary switched to the larger Highland bagpipe and then rejoined our group while playing Amazing Grace. It was touching and sentimental for all. He wore full-dress attire and definitely looked the part. It was a combination of good piping, good song selections, and Lary's friendly personality that helped make this a memorable and fitting tribute to our dear mother. Booking through GigSalad was a great idea.
Lary was a find through GigSalad. I did not know what to expect. We were having an Irish funeral. He showed at the cemetery in full outfit and could not have been closer to my vision of the perfect bagpiper. He led the casket procession with an Irish folksong. After the short ceremony he was heard off a ways playing Amazing Grace. We then went to the Chapel where he played Ballads softly in the garden as people arrived. After the ceremony he led the procession through the garden to the reception while playing Danny Boy. After playing Ode to Joy and a few more songs on the reception patio, he made himself available for pictures for those interested. I was very satisfied and will recommend his services to others. Lary, Thank you again for making this day of morning and celebration memorable. Randy
Mr Fowler's presence and his music added a greater sense of nobility and honor to my military retirement ceremony. It took the event from memorable to EPIC - so grateful to Larry for his professolnalism and his competence...if you're thinking about - go with Larry Fowler and you will be glad you did!!
Showed up early and had full Scottish uniform. The 'gig' was just for one song for a memorial service. But just what we wanted.
Lary arrived on time, very personable and the music he played was fantastic. Was a very fun event. His attire and bagpipe music was perfect for our guest we were honoring. We all enjoyed Lary!
I can't recommend Lary highly enough. We contacted him to be a surprise bagpiper during our wedding reception and he gave a perfect performance. Thanks again!
Lary Fowler played for a special service at our church. He was professional, flexible and responsive to our wishes, making suggestions when asked. His "dress" was authentic, adding much to the performance and he looked even than I could have hoped. He was friendly, personable and easy to talk to. He sent a very nice note that evening complimenting us on our service and thanking us for choosing him. I'd recommend him unreservedly for any event. Using Gig Salad was so easy and worked perfectly. Seeing reviews and allowing for choices based on location, cost, etc. helped immensely.
We soon forgot that Lary was paid entertainment. He was much more like a family friend, just what we needed at my mothers funeral.
What to Expect
Lary plays the Great Highland Bagpipe and the Scottish Smallpipes. While he has been educated by champion pipers who teach traditional piping you might hear The Flintstones, Star Wars, Jesus Christ Superstar, Lion King Theme or Kum By Ah. Depending on the program their may be some cultural education. Your event can be as structured as you like.
Lary has performed at a variety of venues having piped for Scentsy Corporations 10000 member annual gathering. Lary is quite comfortable working with you or your wedding planner. His phone is always on so he's easy to contact. Lary is a veteran of the US Army performing with an Army Band at Fort Polk, La. so he is entirely comfortable piping veterans memorials or events. Performing at non traditional bagpipe events is one of his favorite things to do. Dog shows and AA and AAA baseball games fall in this category. Being a surprise piper at a birthday party, wedding, family reunion or corporate event is almost too much fun. Lary is about 6 feet tall and weighs over 200 pounds so it can be quite a challenge to be a surprise at that size and dressed in a kilt.
Additional Booking Notes
Lary requires very little lighting, staging, mics, etc.

If you require a tune Lary doesn't know he will learn it for you with enough advance notice. The bagpipe has a range of only 9 notes so there are many tunes that don't fit the pipe.
