Kelli M. Anderson is an interactive media strategist, digital media artist, and arts educator in the Washington, DC metro area. In 2004, Kelli began to explore blogging as a way to document her personal journey, and named her blog Sojournals in honor of The Narrative of Sojourner Truth. In 2005 her digital journal become (link hidden), a social network where she could expand her documented experiences and invite the many creatives she connected with in the real and virtual worlds. (link hidden) was a place where those creatives could also share their stories. It was also part of the digital journey for several successful artists, writers, and creatives including founder of the Digital Sistahood Network Ananda Leek, and Moon, founder of Liberated Muse and The Capital Hip Hop Soul Fest. Grammy-nominated music artists Nicolay (of R&B/electronica/hip hop duo The Foreign Exchange) and Kokayi were members as well. Dynamic writers and poets like Tara Betts, Alan King, and Felicia Pride are also connected to that digital journey. The network now stands as a digital archive, documenting the early careers and successes of many influential urban artists and professionals during the early convergence of social media.
As a digital storyteller Kelli's works have explored identity, sexuality, and community through documentary shorts and interactive media, and have been featured at The Making of...Live at SFMOMA, The John F. Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, and Smithsonian LVM. Cucci, her current work in progress is a response to female genital mutilation incorporating digital storytelling through interactive textiles prints enhanced with augmented reality. She’s recently worked as the social media strategist and interactive media artist for Ceremonies of Dark Men, a 5×5 Public Art Project commissioned by DC Commission of the Arts & Humanities during Fall 2014. As Co-organizer for StoryCode DC, an immersive storytelling community she seeks to discover and share new innovative ways of approaching narrative through Meetups, where storytellers can collaborate and share works.
