I am a freelance violinist. I play in orchestras, solo, as part of small ensembles which range from classical to rock to jazz. At times I also coach voice and direct choirs. I love teaching musical ensembles and when I can combine a lifestyle of performance and education I feel balanced.
I also have a regular piano/violin duet and enjoy studying more improvisational music through this ensemble, as well as playing classical repertoire.
Kathleen was wonderful to work with. She was on time, played beautifully and was a great additional to our morning registration.
Kathleen was wonderful. Stayed in touch during event planning and made the evening wonderful!!!
I am reminded of a quote I heard a long time ago, where Spielberg remarked that although he could shoot footage of ET's bicycle going into the air, it took John William's score to truly get it to take off.
The same sort of concept applies here. We had a small wedding where getting a DJ or even playing music from an iPod just wasn't for us. Fortunately for us we came across Kathleen - she took what started as merely a gathering of people and transcended it into an unforgettable, intimate evening. Her music was fitting and beautiful, and her demeanor consistently professional and amicable. She is a true pleasure to work with, and was very flexible in taking/adapting to requests. On top of all that, her prices were also quite competitive to what we've seen from other violinists. I cannot thank her enough for elevating our wedding to something truly memorable.
5/5 - highly, highly recommended.
Response from Kathleen Jara:
Thank you so much, Christopher, for such kind words. Your wedding was lovely and a joy to be part of. I wish the best for both you and Toni!

What to Expect
I can perform as a soloist, as part of an ensemble, in the spotlight or as quiet background music. I enjoy performing in the outdoors as well as studios, halls, homes, and churches.
I've been playing violin since I was 6 years old; while I've played in small jazz ensembles, orchestras, traditional string quartets and various wedding ensembles, I also enjoy teaching students of all ages. Music is the constant in my life and I know how it can set the tone for a special moment.
Additional Booking Notes
If performing in the outdoors, I do need some kind of cover or protection from the elements, for the safety of my instrument.
The violin speaks well in smaller spaces, or those with good acoustics. While it can play chords, it does not sound like a guitar.

While I can play many of the standard violin songs, I also arrange music to suit the moment- for example, if you have a special song you'd like to hear, you can tell me the name or send me a recording, and I can often make an arrangement of the piece for solo violin. I love to improvise as well; I feel very open to trying new music.
Equipment depends on the service- I have my own stand, amplification, and scores, but generally will need an electrical outlet or source if the performance is to be amplified, as well as any kind of seating that the service might require. In the event of
