She is a young mother of 2 small children and loves the Summer season so considering she was in the hospital the entire time we decided to give her a Luau so she could enjoy it with her children and friends bfore it was officially over! These ladies came out and performed and was awesome! They went above and beyond for Valerie and to make our party feel complete. Before the night was over we felt as though we knew them personally and I'd recommend them to anyone! Thank u ladies for putting that smile on Valeries face that we was all praying to one day get to see again !

What to Expect
Kaleo feels blessed with the voice given to her by God and the support of her parents in helping her to develop it. she is also honored to have lived and studied with Master Teachers in Hawai'i during the last 27 years and so grateful for all that they have shared with her about their beautiful and loving culture and dance that not many people on the mainland are aware of. It is a precious resource in our modern world, that is punctuated by so much stress, chaos and uncertainty, and she feels a responsibility to share what has been given to her now with others through her stories, voice and harp as well as hula, to help them as this tradition has helped her , in finding joy, well being and balance in their world.
Kaleo's dynamic and moving stories, what she calls "talk story", are about how this ancient Hawaiian culture, a gentle and dynamic way of living called Living Aloha, The Way of the Heart, helped her to survive and thrive through difficult life lessons of adversity and hardships. Her storytelling, strong stage presence and relevant messages touch people's hearts in a deeply moving way, showing how they can move through the adversity and hardships in their lives by helping them to connect to that place of love within themselves. The audience doesn’t just hear a story, they experience it within their own bodies; and return home feeling renewed, inspired, energized, uplifted, united and more at peace within themselves and with their world!
Kaleo was introduced to the ancient Hawaiian culture in the late 80's. Since then, she has been fortunate and blessed to have lived and studied with Hawaiian Master Teachers, Kumu Hula and Kahunas, both in Hawai'i and on the Mainland. In learning how to live this Way of the Heart, she lived and studied Hawaiian Spirituality through Living the Aloha Spirit with Kahiliopua Wong Bretlinger in the early 90’s, Huna with Serge Kahili King since the late 80’s and Huna Mua with Phil Young in the late 90's. She has been offering workshops and classes in these teachings since the mid 90’s.
As a dancer and singer, she has also been fortunate to have learned the ancient form of storytelling unique to the Hawaiian Islands, what is called the Heartbeat of the Hawaiian people – their traditional Hula. She has taken workshops and studied Hula with several different Kumu Hula since the late 80’s. They include Keith Awai, Uncle George Na’ope, Olana ‘Ai, Ellen Gay Dela Rosa and Chinky Mahoe. Since 2003, her main teacher and influence in hula has been Lehua Kawaikapuokalani. Her Kumu Hula under him is Susan Pa’iniu Floyd. Kaleo has traveled extensively to study with them in Hawai’i. She also studied Hawaiian Chant privately with Aloha Dalire at her Halau in Kane’ohe, and what she learned from Auntie Aloha is the foundation of her chanting today. She has been teaching workshops and classes in Hula throughout the US and Canada since the early 90’s.
Kaleo is currently the Director of the Heart of Aloha Center and Instructor of the Halau Pu’uwai O Aloha, a non-traditional school of Hawaiian Hula, located in Spartanburg SC. She teaches hula classes and and facilitates other workshops and events at the Heart of the Aloha Center and online through Skype. She has been part of World Dance Program and summer camp for kids through the Lawson Academy of Arts at Converse College in Spartanburg SC and has taught hula at the Montessori Academy in Spartanburg.
In looking for answers and healing for her own experiences of traumas She was introduced to the Hawaiian culture in the late 80’s which is all about peacefully maintaining the harmony of the family, starting with yourself. Since then, she has been fortunate and blessed to have studied with Hawaiian Master Teachers both in Hawai'i and on the Mainland since the late 80’s.
It began with their ancient form of storytelling unique to the Hawaiian Islands, and what is called the Heartbeat of the Hawaiian people – their Hula. Hula is a beautiful, flowing dance form, a moving meditation and a powerful tool for healing. Kaleo has taken workshops and studied Hula with several different Kumu Hula since the late 80’s. It also changed her focus as a singer in her performances, which began to include hula, to being a Musical Storyteller in 2005.
In learning how to live this Way of the Heart, it helped her find her own healing from traumas and challenging experiences she has had, especially in relationships as a woman. In addition to the Hula, she also lived and studied Hawaiian Spirituality through Living the Aloha Spirit with Kahiliopua Wong Bretlinger in the early 90’s, Huna with Serge Kahili King since the late 80’s and Huna Mua with Phil Young in the late 90's.
Kaleo is now passionate in sharing this message of Aloha to others, and especially women to help them to find their way back to themselves and their full potential in life, and she now sometimes brings her gift as a Storyteller through Hula to deepen her message as a Speaker. it is to help everyone in her audiences to know they can Create Balance and Peace in Their Lives by Learning to: Bless the Present - Trust Yourself - and Expect the Best. Kaleo has also been a Certified Music Therapeutic Practitioner since 2005 through the Music for Healing and Transition Program, with her specialty in working with alzheimer's patients and those who are in the process of actively dying. And she was a licensed authorized senior teacher and certified acupressurist of Jin Shin Do Bodymind Acupressure from 1988 to 2016 when she chose to focus her attention fully on her Speaking and Storytelling and being a Coach, Consultant and Teacher to women.
