What to Expect
With my current live set-up, not only am I able to perform solo with acoustic, but I can also be a guest DJ and play custom set lists between my live material, or run sound for separate acts or other bands.
I have lots of experience with bar gigs, parties, weddings, corporate functions, or anything where you need audio reinforcement.
I also like to communicate with the host(s) prior to the show date so if there is anything special they would like performed or a theme to cater to, I can make anything happen.
I use two 2x15 mains and a single 2x10 floor monitor all powered by an 8 channel mixer. Everything is streamlined so there is no need for an extra sound guy; it's plug-n-play with little hassle and takes up very little space.
As a well known gun-slinger-guitarist and performer from Gwinnett county, Justin Aldrich has gained current acclaim as the kinetic bass player for Atlanta's own Avenue of the Giants.
"I played some bass in my past, mainly in my early days.", says Justin, recalling an old demo from a band he played with while in high school.
"I like to keep my feet wet with fresh ideas or techniques in all sorts of genres, so for me, music started from the ground up: a LOT of drums, then some bass, and then guitar kept me going for a solid 12 years. There's many many, miles on all of my instruments!"
So with his career as a professionally trained guitarist and transcriber, staying open minded and focusing on learning about music and how people can express themselves with that kind of medium is one of his best lessons in music and life. "Music is a journey, and as long as you can keep thinking like a student, then you can learn literally anything to add to your musical-self."
As well as playing with a local rock group, Justin also enjoys performing sets for local bars and other establishments that cater to live music that wont blow-out the ears of the audience. His sets are mostly mild with a lot of humor in between and can last up to 3 hours. He also likes to bring guest musicians and students to play along with him on-stage. Sets usually consists of classic to modern covers and a few originals and renditions of jukebox favorites!
"I think it's important that we are always challenging ourselves. It keeps you on your toes, like my transition back to bass in Avenue of the Giants; I accepted the challenge and I have become a better musician for it. I still consider guitar my go-to instrument. Sticking with guitar has been very important to me because it gives me the freedom to express myself on many levels".
