A client can expect complete professionalism from me. They can also expect me to exceed expectations and bring added value to their gig. My strength is stage performance. My energy is infectious and I know how to get the crowd involved. A rock small audiences to major gigs. I have done it all.
I'm versatile enough to fit or adjust to any type of crowd. My music is mostly fun and upbeat or about relationships so I'm not just stuck on a specific subject matter.
Originally from Hartford, Connecticut, Johvan "Jovy Emanon" Williams now resides in Columbus, Ohio where he creates and performs his music. Drawing on his influences, which range from Fats Domino to Tupac Shakur and Isaac Hayes to Wyclef Jean, Jovy's songs combine elements of reggae, rap, hip hop, and rhythm and blues to create his own style. "Jovy's lyrical abilities set him apart from many contemporary hip hop and rap artists. His subject matter and style delve deeper than money, drugs, and sex," says Brandon S. Hire, producer/owner of Skyline Sound Studios.
Jovy's new hip hop single, "Chill Out" (featuring Yung Sav) is available on iTunes October 9th. The video will be available online at (link hidden) in mid-October. "Chill Out" is the first single from "Jovy's World Volume 1", the upcoming release from F.R.O.E. Records.
Music has always been a part of Jovy's life. He began singing for his mom and her friends when he was just 4 years old. Both his mom and dad were performers as well. His mom performed in and around Hartford while his dad had success as a major reggae artist in Jamaica. Jovy feels that, for him, being an artist wasn't an option: "I feel being an artists is... essential to my freedom of expression... [As an artist] you develop the power to move others."
In addition to his solo work, Jovy founded the group Rally Boyz 1989. He performed with other artists, including Jon Q, Torre Geez, Kru-shal, and DJ Strokeman. In November of 2011, Jovy was signed to F.R.O.E. Records as a solo artist.
In addition to releasing his single, "Chill Out" and finishing his upcoming release "Jovy's World Volume 1", Jovy is performing in live shows regionally.
I'm low maintenance, just give me a mic and the crowd.
I've been influenced and compared to the likes of The Notorious B.I.G., Heavy D, Big L, Eightball (of Eightball & MJG) and numerous others.
