Audiences will get a mature, responsible professional on time for the show and as well prepared as possible, to offer music to tell stories to which they may relate, creating a shared experience--or ay least knowing their ticket prices were ay least a fair del. I also want to share the joy that music can bring; in these harsh times, even a small comfort can mean a lot. No airs nor vanity cases--just the audience and my band/me.
John (JB or Johnny) Abbott plays jazz, blues, and pop/rock standards. He composes original scores for TV, radio, podcasts, films, and more under Sourland Sounds Music Services, as well as produces recordings on Murphy Boy Records.
He is an experienced and credentialed guitar teacher of students 7-adult.
A profound believer that musicians should contribute to the community, John plays in local open mics and in benefit shows. He is especially fond of producing and performing in live showcases to benefit causes such as veterans, animal rescue, and more. John formerly served as the volunteer chapter coordinator for Guitars For Vets, a national nonprofit organization providing free guitar lessons for veterans afflicted with PTSD and other distress at the Lyons and West Orange VA New Jersey Health Care Systems.
Dedicated to the principle that learning is lifelong, John is a 2021 graduate Magna Cum Laude of the Berklee College of Music and plans to continue formal guitar study. He also holds a master's in education from Rutgers University, and is an active member of The Recording Academy and of BMI.
A quality sound system staffed by a skilled tech or engineer. Good lighting without distracting, unnecessary frills. The same would go for staging and the set, matching the motif of the music set for the gig. There's not much to say here but for the audience to enjoy my shows, it's simple--less is more.
