We bring a fresh, contemporary South Asian-American sound to the stage, performing a mix of South Asian, Western, and creative mashups that get audiences engaged and excited.

Whether it’s a cultural celebration, corporate event, wedding, competition, or festival, we provide our own arrangements, are fully self-contained (no instruments needed), and can adjust our set length to fit your schedule.

Jhankaar is UC Davis’ premier south asian fusion a-cappella team that combines south asian musical influences with western music. We compete in the ICCA’s and another circuit ASA where we travel for competitions around the country. Our mission is to convey that this kind of fusion has the ability to unite people from different backgrounds through a common thread: a passion for music. However, we need to raise money for flight tickets and hotels, etc.

One of our main goals this year is to finally be able to invest in a mic system to give us a better chance at placing at competitions. Help our team step into a new level for future generations of Jhankaar, we would love to perform for you!

Jhankaar A Cappella is a fully vocal group — no instruments required! We are flexible and can perform in a variety of spaces, but here’s what helps us give the best possible performance:

Sound: We can perform acoustic (no microphones) for small venues if needed. For larger events, we recommend a PA system with 4–8 microphones for best sound quality.

Space: A small stage or open performance area is ideal, but we can adjust to available space. We typically need room for 4–16 singers to stand comfortably.

Lighting: General stage lighting is appreciated but not required — we can perform in most lighting setups as long as the audience can see us.

Set Length: Our standard set is 10 minutes, but we can prepare longer or shorter sets depending on your event.

Arrival & Setup: We usually arrive 30–45 minutes before the performance for sound check and warm-ups.
