Jerry Siddhartha is a storyteller\writer from Georgia that blossomed in Pittsburgh, PA. Resonating with the labels Performance Poet, Artist, and Creative, he uses spoken word and poetry to engage in his passion "to inspire thought under the theme of 'Perspectives'." His mission is "to promote and spread understanding while diminishing the 'us and them' mentality," relying heavily on his gift of empathy, philosophies, and understanding of emotions to bring out the best of his writing.
He's been using this gift since May 2009, bringing powerful voices to the forefront that often don't get the focus they should be allotted. From his starting point under his first moniker "The Observer," and performing in various churches, to his growth and name change, he has always been filled with a vast array of perspectives.
Upon deciding to walk his own path and discovering what life should be via his own terms, he decided he'd let go of "The Observer" and embrace "Jerry Siddhartha" - a name taken from the birth name of the popular Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, whose name means "one who accomplishes a goal," but more relevantly also denounced his old to discover his new; and also using the name "Jerry" in honor of his father who has been such a guide in his life.
After the name change and move from Atlanta, GA, to Pittsburgh, PA, JS began to learn who he was as a creative. Whilst exploring, he participated in the 2014 "Poetry And Spoken Word" Competition at The Community College Of Allegheny County, leaving with first place; was one of the main featured artist at the "Po' It Up, Poet Up" event in 2015; and also another featured artist\final act at the "Amen Rock The Mic" Talent Showcase later on that year.
Since then he has been invited to more competitions and has been working on varying projects in between life events.
He hopes to improve universal understanding and tolerance someday through his words, and is excited to capitalize on his ideas as he grows ever closer to the completion of his greater works.
