Influences & Inspiration
As a previous overweight adolescent, I know first hand what it feels like to be ashamed and bullied about my weight. It effected my self-esteem for the majority of my childhood. It became the motivation for my insatiable interest in health and wellness, which led to my academic degree in Food & Nutrition in college (and Nursing). After graduating, I naturally gravitated towards adolescents struggling with self-esteem and weight issues. It is important to teach skills that combat emotional eating as well as behavioral coping strategies for everyday stress.
In today's society, where a two-parent working household is the norm, it is imperative to empower the younger generation to take charge of their diet, exercise and overall health. Educational workshops are a great way to relay information to a target audience in a non-stressful environment; one condusive to learning. Prevention is everything and I can help you get started!
