Frequently Asked Questions:
My sister wants to hire you for her daughter’s party in October. What is the best way to contact you?
Phone is direct, but it is rarely the best way to get in touch. Sometimes I do not have service and I don’t get call/voicemail notifications for days. E-mail is the most reliable, because I check it daily, and I always get updates by the minute. You can e-mail me direct through Craigslist or this site, on the Let Me Know! Page.
Facebook can be a bit delayed as well, because I don’t get direct messages unless I check the page, which is every few days.
You can also text me direct at (phone number hidden). Please be aware to state your name, for I may lose your texts with no name attached.
What are your rates?
I charge $80.00/hour, black and white or color. The same fee applies for extra time on site. There is a $20.00 travel fee for locations that require a 60+ mile commute both ways.
How long does it take for each caricature?
Black and white is only 3-5 minutes. Color takes a bit longer, 4-6 minutes. Double portraits (2 caris on a page) take 7-10 minutes.
How many caricatures can you do in an hour?
Depending on crowd size and general flow, 10-15 black and whites, around 7-10 in color.
How big are your caricatures?
The standard size is 8.5 X 11 in.
Do you draw just heads or both heads and bodies?
The fastest way for me to draw the most caricatures is heads and small upper torsos. If you would like me to draw bodies (and/or add personal themes) that is completely understandable and fun, but be aware it does add about 2-3 minutes extra to each caricature. That may sound like a small amount of time, but it adds up! Be sure to specify what you would like me to draw for each portrait, and we can make it work.
What kind of setup do you require?
I prefer a small table space, and 2-3 chairs. If that is unavailable, I can bring my own. On the Caricature Confirmation Form, there is a spot to specify if I need to bring my own, please be sure to check this off so I am aware before the party date.
If the setting is a small private house party, sitting on the couch drawing guests is perfectly do-able, so long as I have a small spot to place my coloring materials. I can work on a tabletop or use a hand-held clipboard for mobility.
What kind of paper do you use?
I have 2 types: Regular computer-grade printing paper and cardstock. Cardstock is generally more durable and thick, like an index card. I bring them all to parties, so that guests have a choice of design and color.
Do you have protective covers/sleeves for the caricatures?
My standard final touch is rolling the caricature like a scroll and tying the caricature with a ribbon or colored rubber band. I can supply plastic binder sleeves for an extra $5.00. The host, 8.5x11in size, would supply any extra frames or holders.
How do you make sure all of my guests get a caricature?
Caricatures take time, so I cannot guarantee all guests will get a caricature in the time I am hired for a party. I have a pre-made waiting list, so the host can write down the most important guests for a caricature on the top of the list so I can call out their names and draw them in my allotted time.
What if my daughters name was on the waiting list, and I did not get a caricature of her. Could she still get one?
Yes, I tell all guests at the party if I run out of time, they can take my card and e-mail me their photo. In that case, I will do a caricature for free in later days.
Can I get my own portrait at a party, and then one with my best friend also?
My general rule is one caricature per person, unless the host specifies otherwise. If you would like to get your caricature with another guest, that is fine, but be aware that is your one caricature for the party. Due to time constraints, it would be unfair to make other guests miss out on their chance if you got two portraits.
Is there an age limit for portraits? Can you draw babies and toddlers?
Of course! There is no age limit; I will draw any human being that is in front of me. Babies and toddlers may need to be held, of course. All I need is a few quick glances and they’re free to run and play.
I need a portrait of the bride and groom, but they have no time to sit for you. Can you draw them from a distance while they are enjoying their party?
I have done this before, and yes, it is possible. Sometimes, with large crowd, it is hard to get every facial detail from a distance, but I do my very best!
My name is Jenifer. I have been drawing caricatures of folks for over 5 years now. I have perfected the art of having anyone (babies, teens, 50th birthday parties) sit down in front of me and drawing their portrait in less than 5 minutes.
In the end of those 5 or 6 minutes you have a frame-able keepsake with a date that you can keep forever. Take a seat with your family, your friend, your boyfriend or girlfriend...then smile at your good looking self!
My setup is small (a small table and 2 chairs) and my rates are affordable (standard spring 2014 rate 80.00/hour..most caricaturists charge on average $125.00/hr). I don't charge extra for holidays, and I'll work with any budget.
The only extra fees that ever apply are for travel, 20.00 / tolls for 60 miles. Besides that, feel free to inquire within!!

Do you have travel costs?
Yes. I drive a Prius, so gas is not an issue.
For me, it is tolls when I am traveling outside of Long Island into Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island, Westchester, and NJ. Tolls are expected to be half-paid by client for any bridges, tunnels, or parking. Brooklyn takes an average 1.5 hours longer to access any address than any other borough , so I do charge an extra $30 travel to any booking in that borough.
