I perform solo guitar styles from Latin America and Europe, including authentic Spanish flamenco.
I'm a professional guitarist with extensive experience performing for concerts, weddings, parties, and a variety of events.
In 2012 my guitar reached millions of people on the Latin show "Q'Viva: The Chosen" on Univision and Fox, starring Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, with 11 of my pieces used in profiles of talent show contestants
I played for 5 years at Viva Madrid, a Spanish restaurant in Claremont, CA, and had a regular Flamenco Friday gig at the Miramonte Winery in Temecula for several years, as well as performing frequently at the Euro Cafe and Nuno's in Upland.
Jeffrey was very professional and played the perfect music for our Spanish themed party.
Response from Jeffrey Briggs:
Thank you, Moses, for the privilege of playing for your family and friends, and for your kind words. Regards from Jeff.
Jeff played flamenco guitar for our wedding September 12, 1982. The music was beautiful, perfectly matching the occasion. This year marked our 35th anniversary. While looking through wedding pics, I wondered where Jeff was now living. Looks like California's been good for you.
Loved Jeffrey!!! Will be calling him back for more events!
Jeffrey was flexible, friendly, attentive to needs of host and guests. Wonderful and very versatile musician.
Response from Jeffrey Briggs:
You had one of the nicest groups of people I've ever played for.
Regards from Jeff
Jeffrey was an wonderful addition to our son's graveside memorial service. He learned a selected piece at our request and did a beautiful job giving so much warmth to the choice. The background pieces he chose were peaceful and inspiring. I would very highly recommend choosing Jeffrey as a classical guitarist for any occasion you may have in mind. His gentle spirit and loving nature were so much appreciated by all who attended our event. Thank you Jeffrey!

Here are some reviews of my performances:
Holiday Party in Pasadena, CA on 12/02/2012 - Jeff was a pleasure to work with throughout the planning process. He showed up on time, dressed appropriately, and showcased his talents by playing beautifully during the cocktail hour. He is a professional artist and his price is very reasonable. I would recommend Jeff to anyone looking for live entertainment for their events.- YT F.
Jeff was a true gentleman in everyway possible. After talking to a few other musicians, it was apparent that Jeff's work was part of his heart and that he took his job very seriously. Communication was great from day one and he made the proccess very easy. There should be ratings higher than 5 for him. thanks Jeff, it was a treat to listen to you and meet you. Thank you Jeff! This was a surprise for my wife and she loved it. Jeff's guitar skills are excellent. He was easy to talk to, friendly with my guests, and overall a great person to work with. His music created a great atmosphere. I would highly recommend his services to anyone looking for some Flamenco guitar. He was professional, timely, and very reasonably priced. All in all a great experience. -- Jason S, Long Beach, CA, 8/8/2009
Jeff was fantastic, talented, professional, and easy to work with. I contacted hime to perform at my Mom's 60th birthday party. He arrived early, set up quickly, and began to play. Everyone enjoyed the party tremendously with much of the credit going to the music he provided. Thanks Jeff! -- Eric A, Hacienda Heights, CA, 8/15/2009

Additional Booking Notes
Because the nylon-string acoustic guitar is a quiet instrument, I use a small amp to boost the sound when I perform for events. I maintain the optimal sound level where the guitar can be heard, but people can still converse without the music being too loud.
All I need is a padded chair with no arms, to be close to an electrical outlet, and a few square feet of space.
If the gig is outside I also need an umbrella, or to be out of direct sunlight, which makes the strings go out of tune. It it's much below 70 degrees a heater is essential, since cold fingers don't play their best.
My amp has batteries, so I can perform by the ocean or in parks (I've done a number of beach weddings).
I like to arrive an hour early to set up. It's very important that any client know exactly where they want me to play and have someone available when I arrive so there are no delays in my set-up.

I play flamenco forms such as rumba, soleares, peteneras, fandango, malagueas, farruca, granainas, bulerias, alegrias, tarantas, and more. I also play Spanish classical from Renaissance and Baroque up to modern composers.
My Latin repertoire consists mainly of traditional guitar styles from Mexico and South America, including huapango, valses, joropo, vals peruano, carnavalitos, takirari, zamba, samba, bossa nova, chacarera, milonga, tango, bolero, and many others.
I really like Renaissance lute or vihuela music transcribed for guitar - from Spain, Italy, Germany, Poland, England, France, and the Netherlands.

Influences & Inspiration
My father gave me a number of records by the great Spanish classical guitarist Andres Segovia, which influenced my musical tastes greatly. He also had an extensive collection of classical music, which he played every night, which was my true musical education.
I studied with Juan Serrano when he was the top Spanish flamenco guitarist in the world, and learned the authentic techniques and styles of this great art form.
I made a documentary (El Charanguero) about Argentinian charango player Jaime Torres, immersing myself in the beauty of Latin American folk music.
I also studied with Nubian singer/oud player Hamza el Din, who taught me about the the music of the Middle East.
