Originally from Memphis with the last name of Hicks, my routine is entitled "It's Hard To Be A Hick In A Hi-Tech World!" During my routine I turn into various relatives, i.e. Grandpa Dudley Hicks, Elvis Hicks, etc Many in the audience are singled out to participate! (Originally known as "Cuz'n Philburt & Wilburt the Pig")
Rufus was a great Christmas elf. The attendees loved it and were engaged in the Christmas songs
We had Philip perform for my husbands fortieth birthday party. All the guests said their stomachs and mouths hurt from laughing and smiling so much. As the host of the party, its nice to have a chance to sit down and have fun with the guests. It was the only time I sat down the whole evening. We give him two thumbs up, and we will book him again if the opportunity allows!
Response from It's Hard To Be A Hick In A Hi-Tech World:
I so enjoyed blessing so many wonderful people with laughter! And I sooooooo appreciate the gracious endorsement from Jennifer on behalf of her precious family & friends!
Price Range: $400-$1000
Gig Length: 45 - 60 minutes
What to Expect
Philip draws on life experiences from being raised in the South to a life of rebellion to partying with the rich & famous of Aspen, CO (Robin Williams, Jimmy Buffett, Hunter S. Thompson, etc)! Bits include "My Life With Pigs", Life in Arkansas with Grandpa Dudley as well as the fictitious "Elvis Hicks" from Tupelo, Miss where he insists "he taught Elvis Presley everything" including how to swivel and sing! Elvis selects three audience members who he 'dresses up' with Elvis wigs, scarves and glasses before teaching them how to swivel and sing like the King! Grandpa Dudley then returns with his uke to sing parodies of songs such as "I Get By With A Little Help From Depends", "On The Commode Again" and "I Can't See Clearly Now My Sight Is Gone."
**** Philip is also available to "roast" folks as well as "surprise" with singing telegrams (performing as 1 of 12 different original characters)****
While entertaining children, adults & families for well over 30 years, Philip Hicks has opened for Jeff Foxworthy, appeared on the Carol Lawrence Show (twice) & Standup With Fred Travelena! He won the Gong Show, was cast for a Super Bowl Commercial (Oscar Meyer Weinermobile) and entertained for the families of TV/Film stars Mary Hart (ET), Bill Paxton and many others! He has a unique gift for connecting with people from all walks of life and loves to cause both young and young-at-heart alike with healing laughter! For 14 years he performed as "Cuz'n Philburt & Wilburt the Pig" but, sorry, no more pork! He especially enjoys "roasting" selected guests and enjoys an innate gift for blending their histories into his comedy routines!
Additional Booking Notes
I will need either a headset mic or lapel mic to maximize my performance. A hand-held mic will work but will limit my ability to utilize a few "physical" comedy props. Basic stage lights will work!

Most of my songs are parodies but I usually only do the title and/or one stanza and chorus.
For Elvis Hicks, my 3 "volunteer" Elvis will sing portions of my original song, entitled "I'm All Prayed Up!"
