Your Wedding Ceremony, Tailor-Made, Fun & Original
Would you like a ceremony that expresses who you are?
Your ideas, feelings & beliefs?
Without being confined by religious tradition?
I can help.
My goal is to write and present a personalized ceremony that honors you, your family, friends– and expresses who you are.
After we discuss your ideas, beliefs and preferences, I will write a ceremony, tailor-made for you. Perhaps you'll choose to include themes of love, life's journey, nature, spirituality, infinite wisdom and happiness. Or, something else. I am here for you.
Together, we'll create your one and only ceremony.
Together, we will touch hearts with love, light and laughter.
Ira officiated my daughter's spacetastic wedding that was out of this world! It was not your typical wedding, it was more a Star Wars vs. Star Trek event. Ira entertained the crowd and played into the theme of the ceremony with enthusiasm and energy. I highly recommend Ira and give him top stars. Family and friends are all commenting it was the best wedding they have ever attended.
My wife and I had the true pleasure and real honor of having Ira Liss perform our marriage ceremony in Malibu, California last summer. She is Greek Orthodox Christian and I come from a secular but spiritual background. Ira was especially good at respecting our families' varied beliefs, and he helped us convey exactly what we wanted to about our own beliefs and values, and what our marriage means to us as a newlywed couple. I strongly recommend Ira as a wedding officiant. He is very thoughtful, well spoken and he does a terrific job.

What to Expect
For those who do not consider themselves religious, or are not following a particular religious tradition, I offer my writing services. I will help you co-create a ceremony that is memorable, fun and expressive of who you are.
And, while we're at it, let's make it fun, light and easy. (When planning your own wedding, you have enough to think about!)
The first step is getting to know you, your preferences, ideas and beliefs. So, we might talk on the phone, meet in person (if mutually convenient), skype or video-chat.
I will write a 1st draft of your ceremony soon after our conversation.
You'll review the written ceremony and let me know your thoughts. I'll be happy to make several revisions to make sure we have it right. I want you to be fully delighted with the words that are said on your special day.
When the words are right, we're more than half-way there!
As your officiant, I will be there for your wedding rehearsal, coordinating with your event planner and/or party planner and working with any friends or family members who are a part of helping your special day run smoothly.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, now living in Colorado with his family of three generations (spouse, step-daughter and 9-year-old grandson), Ira G. Liss began writing and conducting wedding ceremonies when a family member first asked him to officiate at their wedding, about 10 years ago.
The couple was not practicing any particular religious tradition at that time, yet wanted a ceremony that would be meaningful, respectful and heart-opening – all while having a lightness and sense of humor running through it.
Some of the guests said it was the most unique ceremony they've attended. The ceremony included a long series of "I do's," with an opportunity for the assembled friends and family to say "I do," as well.
"I do," with laughter & love...
As part of a series of questions that began with "Do you promise...," I asked all the assembled guests, "Do you promise to stay in touch with this lovely, loving couple? Do you promise to support them in keeping their promises? Do you promise to be present and available as loving friends as this couple faces life's challenges?"
It was unanimous. All 82 guests happily shouted, "I do," in unison, with laughter and love.
That wedding led to the next wedding – a friend of the family's.
With the beauty of the Rocky Mountains as backdrop for their outdoor venue, the couple asked me to include the beauty of nature as a theme in their ceremony. With that request, I was happy to write and perform a ceremony that included the imagery and poetry of nature and that wedding's beautiful outdoor setting.
Today, I am here to help you create a ceremony that is memorable, fun and expressive of who you are. And, make that ceremony fun, light and easy.
By the way, for several decades, I've performed for many audiences as a musician, composer, pianist, singer/songwriter, improvisor, interviewer, host, MC, spoken word artist, poet and actor. I've played numerous venues in NYC, Arizona and Colorado's Front Range.
I am ordained through the Universal Life Church.
