Hot Off the Press is a senior women's barbershop quartet with a varied repertoire of fun songs that appeal to all audiences. We generally have a comic twist to our performances and involve the audience in our performances with sing-alongs and fun musical games. Folks leave our performances with a smile on their faces and having had a really good time!
Music was very enjoyable
Meet these lovely ladies by chance and their ensemble was outstanding! Such a great show that had me dancing along with popular bops. Definitely worth the booking 👏👏👏
Price Range: $30-40 minutes - $150 to $200
Back in late January of 2015, Hot Off the Press (who were, at the time, lead-less) approached a new member of their chorus, Queen of Harmony Jo Lund, to ask her if she’d like to join them for Singing Valentines that year. (Jo had just joined Red Rose City Chorus a few months before.) Jo jumped at the chance!! (It was thrilling, to say the least!! A QUEEN in our quartet!!!)
Our first rehearsal was held and we started out by singing “Cuddle Up”…one of our Valentine songs. The pitch was blown, we sang the pitch, we started the song…….and Liz stopped us in mid song. “OHMYGOSH!! (Actually she cursed and said “HOLY you-know-what!”) WE SOUND AMAZING!”
We bought matching outfits and the new Hot Off the Press was formed!!
Joanne Landis, the bass, will be receiving her 50 year membership pin in Vegas next year. She began her barbershop career singing with her mother in Reading Pagoda Chorus. Jo Lund, the lead, has been a Sweet Adeline for 40+ years; she is a certified music judge (recently retired); a certified arranger; a coach and a certified director. She won her crown in 1992 while singing with City Lights Quartet. She’s an avid traveler and a great cook. Rehearsals at her house usually include a wonderful meal!! Joyce Fidler has been a Sweet Adeline for over 35 years. She began her barbershop career singing Tenor with Reading Pagoda chorus, and also sings with the Reading Encore singers. She loves spending time with her two grandsons! Liz Danielski, the baritone, has been a Sweet Adeline for 15 years. She is an International Panel Secretary; a member of the Regional Management Team, and Performance Coordinator for Red Rose City Chorus. Between the four of them, they have over 150 years of barbershop experience!!
Jo thought she’d just stay for a few months and see how it went. It’s been going great!! It’s now been almost two years since they’ve been together and they have no intention of stopping!!
