ERU-ERA is a ferocious 7 piece Hypergroove band based out of Ottawa, Canada. The group is led by Trumpeter and composer Ed Lister who hails from London, England. ERU-ERA is one of the flagship bands for Lister’s independent record label ‘London Gentleman Records’ and has been whipping up a storm on the local music scene and festival circuit since their formation in November 2015. The group is due to release a video series E.P in late September 2016 which will be freely accessible through Youtube and Vimeo. The group is comprised of some of Ottawa’s busiest and best session musicians from the jazz, R’n’B and gospel music scenes. Led by 3 powerhouse horns up front and a crushing 4 piece rhythm section underneath there is no doubt that this group delivers an outstanding show.
Ed Lister is a professional trumpeter, composer, arranger and educator from London, England. Ed is currently based out of Ottawa, Canada and runs numerous successful bands both independently and through his record label 'L.G.R' (London Gentleman Records.) Since moving to Canada, Ed has wasted no time in establishing a busy playing career and private teaching studio. Ed started playing professionally at the age of 15, his career has taken him around the globe. Ed toured Spain, Holland and Poland with the award winning Bromley Youth Concert band and Symphony Orchestra as well performing several times in both the Royal Festival Hall and The Royal Albert Hall in London with these groups. Ed then moved onto Leeds to study Jazz at the renowned Leeds College of Music. After graduating with honors from L.C.M Ed then went on to perform on Cruise ships for the next 2 years around the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
Ed has shared the stage with great musicians throughout his career including Kenny Wheeler, Steve Waterman, Derek Watkins, Billy Cobham and Sloan. Ed has also opened for Artists including Kamasi Washington, Trombone Shorty, The Blue Man Group, Sting and the Police, Maria Schneider, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Charlie 2na of Jurassic 5 and Alice Russel to name but a few.
