The Soul Revival originated in 1966. First influenced by church revivals in the Mid-west and then by contemporary giants like the Beatles, Stones, Eric Burden, and The Kinks. In 1967 the group shifted its direction to soul and blues explosion out of Memphis. They expanded from a four-piece band to a ten-piece rhythm blues orchestra adding a scorching horn section and molding themselves after such greats as James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Sam and Dave,Tina Turner and BB King. The revival was booked consistently in the 60's and 70's and played with headliners like Mitch Rider and The Detroit Wheels, Wilson Pickett and The Grateful Dead. Resently they renewed their entertainment ambitions by a reunion fundraiser for The Belskie Museum and Stand By Me, with guests of honer Ben E. King, and Three Time Boxing Champ Bobby Chez. In recent years they awarded BB King the Powerstone Achievement Awards for influencing education to his fans. Now the Soul Revival brings together the sounds of Beal Street and Soul to create a unique Memphis sound while keeping the integrity of the music close to those that inspired them. They preform both original and traditional standards. The rest is pure energy. The Revival has recently completed their new CD Burning Up The Blues, which included such originals as Fools Gold, No Compromise and Energy. Now sit back and feel the energy in The Soul Revival.
