Elizabeth Steiner enjoys a busy schedule as a freelance harpist in the Philadelphia area. She is currently the harpist for High Tea at The Rittenhouse Hotel. She holds a Master's degree in Harp Performance from Temple University and a Bachelor's in Harp Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music. As the harpist aboard the luxury cruise ship, the Azamara Quest, Elizabeth performed nightly for guests from around the world for pre-dinner music, special private events, and afternoon high tea. Harpist Elizabeth Steiner’s love for music has brought her to perform for diverse audiences around the world. She currently resides in Philadelphia, where she recently graduated with a Master’s Degree in Harp Performance from the Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University. For her studies at Temple, Elizabeth was awarded the scholarship position of Academic Intern to study under Elizabeth Hainen, internationally renowned virtuoso and the Principal Harpist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Elizabeth earned her Bachelor of Music degree in 2010 from the Cleveland Institute of Music as a student of one of the world’s most foremost classical harpists, Yolanda Kondonassis. In between her undergraduate and graduate studies she sailed around the world as the harpist for the luxury cruise ship, the Azamara Quest, performing an array of musical styles nightly for international audiences. A Seattle native, her former principal teachers have included Heidi Lehwalder and Alison Austin. She has received additional instruction through masterclasses and private lessons with Judy Loman, Maria Luisa Rayan-Forero, Alice Giles, and Joan Holland.
An active and experienced orchestral musician, Ms. Steiner performs frequently around the Tri-State area with ensembles including the Delaware Symphony Orchestra, Delaware County Symphony Orchestra, Temple University Symphony Orchestra, Newark Symphony, and the Lower Merion Symphony. While studying in Cleveland she performed with the Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra, Youngstown Symphony, Firelands Symphony, Warren Philharmonic, and the Suburban Symphony.
During Summer 2013, Elizabeth performed in Italy at the Siena Music Festival under Maestros Michael Rossi and J. David Jackson. In past summers she has been a fellowship recipient at the Saratoga Harp Colony in Saratoga Springs, NY and a guest artist and teacher at the Gulf Coast Harp Festival, in Sarasota, FL.
In addition to performing, Elizabeth is the Artistic Coordinator for the Lyra Society, a non-profit organization founded by her teacher Elizabeth Hainen in 2004 to commission new works for the harp and provide high quality instruments and instruction for Philadelphia public school students. She is currently the Lyra Society teaching artist for the Philadelphia High School for Girls where she gives a select group of students weekly private lessons.
