Be the first to review E.G. Phillips
Price Range: $200 and up
E.G.'s songs will make you laugh or tug at your heart strings -- and he'll keep the audience engaged with his droll and dry wit in between songs as he gives you a little tidbit of knowledge related to what's coming up or just expounds on his recent musings about this that or the other.
E.G. Phillips is a San Francisco based songwriter who creates songs with his own special blend of whimsy and poignancy. Focusing heavily on lyrics, his musical influences range from old school rock and folk to classic jazz.
He comes from a country called the Midwest and "Ducks With Pants" is the name of his fake (and sometimes real) band.
E.G. has been the "Songwriter-in-Residence" at Bazaar Cafe (September 2015 and April 2017) and a featured performer at the neck of the Woods, the Lost Church, and the Hotel Utah. In August of 2016, he hosted the first "E.G. Phest," inviting various local singer/songwriters to cover his songs for his birthday celebration. He's also been a participant in Theo McKinley's "Local Vocals" program, playing regularly at the Hotel Carlton and Marker Hotel Union Square as well as a volunteer in the "Bread and Roses" charity organization.
Further afield, Phillips played the Mint in Los Angeles as part of his Spring '18 tour and been a guest performer in Steve Key's "Songwriters at Play" in San Luis Obispo. He's also played The Bowery Vault in Nashville as well as Sam's Jams at Bobby's Idle Hour. On the radio, E.G. has been heard on "Bird Flu Kitchen" on (link hidden) as well as FCC free, both based in San Francisco.
E.G. released his first album "Fish from the Sky" in early 2017. It's a collection of well worn originals he's performed around the Bay Area for many years.
He's recently released a cover of one his songs by Samantha Margret — "Sunday is Made for Loving" — and a new original called "The L.A. Song" for which there is a video.
A new full album will be released in early 2019.
