Time Travel doesn't just happen in the movies, sometimes history pops into life with Martina Mathisen in her living history, multi media, full costumed programs. Your group will be delighted with this experience and meeting the living history characters in person!
Martina Mathisen makes history come to life at Friendship Village of Schaumburg. Our residents are entertained and educated through each of her historical portrayals. From Marie Antoinette to Cleopatra, Martina brings the life and personality of each woman alive. The costumes are beautiful and historically accurate and the professionalism of the performance makes it a pleasure to host each portrayal. Martina has performed at Friendship Village many times and I look forward to her future programs.
The show Ms. Mathisen performed at Arlington Heights library was ‘Golden Age of Hollywood’. I really thought she was Louella Parsons and that I was getting the real Hollywood scoop.
It was thoroughly entertaining and interactive. She brings you into the action by asking questions of her audience. A friend of mine saw her at the Mt Prospect Woman’s club where she was Cleopatra and raved about her. Definitely, if you have the opportunity, catch any of her programs.
We have Martina Mathisen at our community several times during the year because our residents love her programs so much! As an Activity Director, it is a pleasure bringing in someone as talented, informative, and fun as Martina! We most recently had her here as Cleopatra and she did not disappoint! The information she portrayed as well as the character, in full costume mind you, was absolutely perfect!
I have been lucky enough to see three of Ms. Mathisen's living history performances, Cleopatra, Louella Parsons, and Mary Moore in 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. She does an amazing job involving the crowd and presenting a plethora of interesting information while remarkably dressed as the person she is discussing. I've thoroughly enjoyed every performance and I hope to see her other personas soon. After each presentation she took time to speak with the patrons and is just a wonderful person. I give her two thumbs up for her professional presentation and her intriguing way of bringing the past into the present.
I have had the privilege to hear Ms. Mathisen speak at several events. Her presentation on both Sacagawea and Cleopatra are just outstanding! She brings history alive in an engaging and entertaining way that is refreshing and exciting. In today's fast paced world filled with electronic distractions, I was delighted that the audience was spellbound from start to finish! She is a world class speaker!

What to Expect
These dynamic programs are designed to engage the audience as they meet a historical character "in person", giving a new dimension to the history they thought they knew! I arrive one to 1 1/2 hours before the program, as to your connivence to set up the screen, projector, and sound. Images behind me add dimension to the talk. Getting into costume and into character, I am introduced to your group as "Cleopatra" (for example) doing an enticing program from the perspective of that character. Adult audiences enjoy this simulating and interesting presentation that won't soon be forgotten.
Martina Mathisen began Edu-tainment Living History in 2013 with the thought of sharing history in a dynamic and interesting way. Martina explores historical characters and brings them"to life" in these presentations expressing her personal passion for history as well as the people in her audiences. Each program is engaging, entertaining, educational and fun.
Martina has led various programs for over 10 years for students and adults, ranging in topics from classic movies and building public speaking skills, to motivation and literature.
