awesome quartet

I have had this quartet perform for me/my family/my office on multiple occasions. They are versatile to the performance and to the venue. They have performed in my home for birthdays and valentine's days, they sang to my husband in the hospital and they have performed at my office for boss appreciation day and valentine's day (to the entire office). I have also heard them perform at a wedding and at a funeral, they were outstanding in both of those instances as well.

I would HIGHLY recommend them and I will continue to hire them to perform for all my occasions.

Double Trouble Is The Best

The Double Troule quartet has a great sound and excellent blending of voices. They have been singing together for several years and everytime I hear them they are even better than the last time I heard them. The four gals are very good friends and it is so apparent. They sing music from all periods of music history which makes them a joy for all age groups to hear. These four gals are all members of our Sweet Adeline Chorus - O-TOWN SOUND from Orlando, FL

Double Trouble

A typical Double Trouble show lasts about 30 minutes. The quartet will adapt to any type of environment whether it's a staged performance, strolling during cocktail hour or entertaining the residents of an assisted living facility. Self-containment is the beauty of a barbershop quartet. Generally, no equipment is required and no special provisions need to be taken prior to the quartet's arrival.

The quartet personnel are:

Paula Barnett – Lead: Paula has been singing her entire life. She started in school productions of Broadway shows, went on to choral and chamber singing, and has been obsessed with barbershop for the past 12 years. By day, Paula is the marketing administrator for a downtown Orlando firm, but when the sun goes down look out! Paula is obsessed with karaoke and frequents different karaoke nights as much as possible.

Doris Birkinbine – Bass: Doris has been sharing that booming bass voice in barbershop music for 15 years. She is a nutritional guru and loves the opportunity to help others improve their lives by helping them learn how to stay healthy. Doris has a diverse background in music, real estate development, cosmetology and public speaking. In her leisure time Doris enjoys traveling, singing karaoke and spending time at the beautiful lake where she lives.

Kris Brown – Baritone: Kris is a musician through and through. She plays piano like nobody’s business and has played several other instruments throughout her life. She has been singing baritone for several years and has developed an amazing ear for barbershop. During the day Kris works in the insurance industry. For fun she spends time with her family and friends and enjoys her little cabin in the woods.

Kay Webb – Tenor: Kay has been a barbershop singer for almost her entire life. From the time she was a teenager, she sang with numerous choruses and quartets. Kay is one of Sweet Adelines' most well-known tenors having competed at the international level for many years. Kay owns her own successful business and is lucky enough to be able to spend time with her very musically talented family.

Set List

Double Trouble's set list consists of familar songs that most people will sing along with. The repertoire spans the 20th century from songs by Al Jolson from the early 1900s all the way to more contemporary hits by Billy Joel and Reba McIntyre. Each set list is customized to fit the ocassion and the wishes of the client. There are separate lists for the holidays and for patriotic events.

Influences & Inspiration

The four members of Double Trouble appreciate an array of musical genre's and performers from the 1930's to the present. The barbershop style of a cappella harmony lends itself to music from a variety of eras, so that works. On any given song, the quartet listens to and watches performances by a variety of artists (both a cappella and accompanied) to get a feel for how the song is interpreted by different performers. Double Trouble's style is influenced by this exploration as well as each of the members' own personal musical style.
