My husband and I hired this band for our November 2016 wedding in San Antonio. At first, it seemed like we had found a great band for a great price. Ray and his wife were responsive and kind, and I was excited for our wedding day. We had paid in full 3 months before the wedding and had continually followed up on both the date and song list.
On the day of our wedding, however, the band was a no show. After multiple calls, my maid of honor got a hold of Ray. He sounded as though he had completely forgotten about our date, and hurriedly assured us he'd call some people and get a band to us as soon as possible. Needless to say, this was not how I had wanted my wedding day to go. Planning a wedding is stressful enough, but Ray had assured us that he would be our emcee to keep the wedding on track. I felt like we were scrambling to figure out what to do next. I was so stressed out, I couldn't even eat.
The band showed up two and a half hours late. They were short two members and the brass band we had paid extra for. When they began playing, they didn't play any of the songs that were on the song list we had provided months before. When I spoke to Ray about changing the set list, he insinuated it was my fault for not hiring one of his employees as the wedding planner, and that I should have followed up better. Distressed and angry, I stormed away and let one of my bridesmaids handle it.
After the wedding was over, my husband let Ray know he'd be getting in contact with them about a refund, as they provided almost nothing of what we paid for. We were able to get ahold of Ray's wife, Erica, who was extremely embarrassed and apologetic, and insisted on getting us a full refund instead. My husband worked out a payment plan with them and it seemed we'd be able to get our money back. After they missed their first two payments, they steadily became more distant. They began to ignore our emails and dodge our calls. Flash forward two years and we still have not received a dime of our money back. I have had to wait to post this review so we could take legal action against the group in hopes of seeing any type of refund.
I understand everyone makes mistakes. What I don't understand is how a business can neglect their responsibility to own up that mistake. This band was a source of stress I wouldn't want any bride to have to endure on her wedding day.
The Harpist was wonderful last night! We had tons of compliments on his performance. However, although he was very good, the best part was seeing how much he enjoys playing. Thank you so much.
