10 years in the business and I have held residencies at:
Harvey's Restaurant
Mecca Lounge
Harry's Bar
Trax Bar
I have done birthday parties, weddings and celebrations.
I have been blessed to work at SF Pride on the Hip Hop Homo Stage,
at Juneteenth on Fillmore and various local events in the SFBay Area.
I have a very small set up that is easy to move. It comes with speakers, a sub, a nice set of disco lighting and wired/wireless microphones.
I have mixed top 40, RnB, Jazz, House, Techno, Rock, Pop, Gospel and Country.
I have 3 specific set ups; One for Weddings/Parties/Events, one for House/Techno/Funk and one strictly for Jazz. I would very much like to find a place to play Jazz!
Nathan was very easy to work with, accomodating, too time to meet in advance and managed requests throughout our event. Equipment, sound, lighting was all solid - would not hesitate to work with him again!
Price Range: $200 and up
Gig Length: 120 - 480 minutes

You should expect to hear a range of music that helps to enhance the vibrant energy of your gathering. If it's a party, then it's party music. If it's a lounge, chill, jazz and laid back tunes (not enough to put anyone to sleep but helps to initiate conversation, enhance the drinking experience. If it's House night... then it's HOUSE music!!!
It really all depends on what your engagement is about.
I began simply enough, with a desire to play some of the great music I have for others.
From there I began at little venues (Harvey's, Da Da's) and expanded to larger spaces (Mecca and Harry's Bar on Fillmore). During this time I was also fortunate enough to do some local events and then I moved on to weddings and birthday parties.
I have expanded my musical repertoire from the beginning of my DJ life and now have a very robust collection that enables me to spin almost anything for anyone.
I prefer to spin a variety of music, never settling in on any one genre. My favorite thing while spinning, is for someone to come up and ask "who is that?", it lets me know I'm doing the right thing, playing what they know and like, and adding new artists for them to get to know and love.
I'm resourceful and very responsible. My last party was a dual floor party and upstairs was "heaven" and downstairs was "hell". The hostess had the whole floor done up in red and I enhanced the floor with my own lighting, in red, and added to the mystique of the evening by mixing a combination of halloween music with eerie sounds. She loved it and I loved that she loved it!
I'm usually pretty quiet when I spin... the focus should be on the people partying not the loud DJ. I'm good for singing along to a song to get people started or clapping my hands, adding to a song musically (cow bells, shakers, anything light). If announcements need to be made, I've got the voice for that. Raffles, contests and the like don't bother me at all. I'm good for whatever makes the night fun.
I usually use a business casual dress mode but am more than willing to augment depending upon the gig. Whatever it takes to make the night fantastic!
I do take requests but I've learned to limit the amount. It's one thing to play a song that someone wants to hear, it's another to lose track of your focus and thus your audience by straying too far away. I am good at getting to a song so that they can be happy and hear it, but I try never to play requests in a row. It can be the death of a set!
I keep it happy, I smile a lot and am usually quite cheerful when I spin. I have very nice equipment, two eight inch Nady's, two 15 inch Mackie Thumps, one Sub and two wired microphones. I have a Shure and an Audio Technica wireless microphone but my trust in either for long distance is limited. My personal set up is great for groups of 50 or so with the small speakers and up to 200 with the big ones. After that I'll have to rent. I'm familiar with renting and have several operators that I can use, though I rely heavily on one as they have NEVER let me down.
Please feel free to ask me further questions, I cannot think of anything to add!
I recently added revolving lights and I'm very happy to have done so. They blink to the beat and add a special something to the dance floor.
