Kazoomco is clown theatre company providing professional circus clown stage shows and dynamic roving juggling entertainment.
A child once described Melissa as “…way more better than t.v!” an apt description for this professionally trained humorist.
Over the span of her 20-year career, Melissa toured the United States on a circus train in the historic Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus. She has wrestled sharks in an actual duck pond and sets funny bones at BC Children's Hospital as Canada’s only clown Dis-Orderly. She courageously swallowed flaming marshmallows in an American touring show, and has juggled deadly machetes for a famous contemporary photographer.
A while have past since our event in mid Feb. But I'd still like to write this review as it was a very good experience for us to have Melissa with us at the event. She is professional, pleasant and interact extremely well with all the guests. Everyone was surprised to see her there and wanted to take picture with her. She also followed our instructions of guiding guests to the silent auction area, which was really helpful. She also took initiative at the planning stage to see if we'd like her a wear a mask and didn't mind making one and taking it on the day, although we ended up not using it as hainvg eye contact is really good for interacting with all the guests. All in all, it was a great event.
Response from Cosmo Circus:

Melissa has a very interactive performing style, making connections with others through laughter, humour, and a fair dose of foolishness. She loves to engage audience members and lighten any occasion with her unique brand of professional levity.
Melissa studied circus clowning at the Clown Conservatory in San Francisco,CA, under artistic direction of Jeff Raz, and Pochinko Clown, with notable teachers, John Turner, of Mump and Smoot, and Ian Wallace, co-founder of Pochinko Clown Technique.
She has performed all over USA, touring with Ringling Brothers in 2005, and living on a train with 11 other clowns. She has performed in numerous circus companies in Canada and the USA, such as Zephyr’s Circus, the Cosmic Fools, Cirque Phoenix, The Underground Circus, Public Dreams, and Flying Not Falling, and of course, Kazoomco Clown Theatre, where she is head clown.
Melissa’s strange past projects include Duck Off, a site specific clown show developed for the Onsite program of the 2011 Vancouver Fringe Festival. The entire show takes place in (yes in) and around the Granville Island duck pond in Vancouver, BC. The show received great reviews, and an Honorable Mention for the Talk of the Fringe award. This show, renamed Quack Attack, enjoyed a sold out run at the 2012 Vancouver International Children’s Festival.
Currently, Melissa is very honoured to join the long running Therapeutic Clown program at the BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, BC. She is now a full fledged Dis Orderly, working with the wonderful Doc Willikers (Paul Hoosen) founder of the program, and awesome Frizzie the Fizzie- O- Therapist (Sand Northrup). The Therapeutic clowns work with the medical staff at the hospital, visiting patients and their families, and developing relationships with them through play and humour.
Melissa has a very diverse background in performing, including: film, circus, theatre, festivals, hospitals, and street theatre. She has no plans of retiring any time soon.
Influences include: Lucille Ball, Charlie Chaplin, ducks (they are funny!), classic European clown styles, and Spike Jones.
