I've been performing my whole life, and after more than 10 years in Asia, I'm back to bring my special brand of swing home!
I've been described as the musical love child of Count Basie and Frank Sinatra. I don't know if that's true, but that's exactly what I aim for every time! I love standards, and even not-so-standards that get toes tapping, hands clapping, or bring a tear to the eyes of my listeners. I love performing, and I'd love to perform for you. I scale easily depending on your needs. If you want quiet piano, great. If you want fun, upbeat piano and vocals, I can bring that too. I can even bring a band if that's what you want. My job is to entertain you, whatever it takes!
Just simply remarkable! Chris is not your usual pianist. His styling on the keyboards is beyond compare. Handsome, professional and an overall great entertainer. You don't want to pass this one up!
Response from Chris May:

Chris was absolutely the best! Very professional and oh so very talented!

What to Expect
I believe in looking professional (but never stuffy), and in delivering quality music for each and every client according to their needs. I like to arrive early to ensure that the piano and stage are ready for the show before the guests arrive. I'm friendly and casual, and I want my clients to feel at ease with me during the whole event. If there's a certain song you'd like to have played, with some advance notice I'm happy to learn anything you'd like. Otherwise, I will tailor a slick performance based on your venue, event and preferences that everyone is sure to remember.
“Chris doesn’t just entice people to stop and listen. He sticks his foot out and trips them.” - Roger Hawk, former head of entertainment for Princess Cruises
I believe in music that moves people. I've been described as "the musical love child of Count Basie and Frank Sinatra", and even compared to Oscar Peterson. That's certainly the quality I strive for.
In my career, I've had the honor of performing around the world in clubs, private events, theme parks, cruise ships and jazz festivals. I come from a small town near New Orleans, the crossroads of great American music - jazz, blues and gospel. Whether I'm singing or not, I like to use these influences in what I perform to make everything I play my own.
Additional Booking Notes
Nothing sounds like a real piano, and that's why I don't play keyboards. I'm happy to play either upright or grand pianos, provided that they are in good condition.
If your venue requires additional lights or sound equipment, I will happily arrange to provide them at an additional cost.
For duo or full-band performances, multiple electrical outlets will be required for sound equipment.

Influences & Inspiration
My biggest influences come from the 40s through the 60s - Ella Fitzgerald with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, Oscar Peterson. I also like to go back to the big bands of the 20s and 30s like Wynonie Harris, Chick Webb, Louie Jordan and others. My goal is to take their influences and music and update them for the 21st century, but always honoring where the music comes from.
