Hi, my name is Chris Cerrato and I've been professionally playing piano for the past 15 years. I'm classically trained, but can also play covers at request. I'm available for any kind of function you may have in and around the San Francisco Bay Area. Please contact me with any inquiries. Thank you!
Price Range: $200 and up
Gig Length: 60 - 120 minutes
What to Expect
I arrive 30 minutes before performances to greet the host of the event and set up. During a performance, I'm happy to take requests from guests. Otherwise, I'll perform a mixture of classical and/or covers.
As a child, I played piano by ear. When I turned 13, I decided to begin taking piano lessons so that I could learn how to read music. That decision set me on a journey that I could have never imagined, and that I am so grateful for to this day. I ended up taking classical lessons for 12 years, studying under Carol G. Ellege, a concert pianist from Boston. In only a few years, I had progressed from learning how to read music to performing works by composers such as Rachmaninoff, Chopin and Liszt.
I enjoy sharing my love of music with people. In high school, I began to play music professionally, from weddings to art gallery openings and other various events. Because not many people can play by ear, I'm unique in that I can easily learn and perform modern songs, and regularly mix those songs into my classical piano performances. This allows me to provide a wide variety of music for many different people to enjoy. Occasionally, I even team up with my good friend, MJ Lee., a classically trained violinist who also enjoys playing modern songs by ear (you can see us playing together in my video section).
So whether you're in need of either a solo pianist or a violin/piano duo, I look forward to sharing my love of music with you.
Additional Booking Notes
I currently do not own a portable keyboard, so there will need to be either a piano at the venue for me to perform on.

Influences & Inspiration
Christopher O'Riley, a famous pianist who often plays modern (i.e. Radiohead, Elliot Smith and Nick Drake) song covers at his classical performances. He is thoughtful and innovative in his transcriptions while showcasing the technical skills that can only be learned from being trained in the classical tradition.
