Cherry Blonde’s set list is versatile and has something for all musical tastes. We have up to 5 full hours of music at our disposal. Whether it is a classic Beatles tune like "I Saw Her Standing There" or "Twist and Shout," tailgate favorites like "Hang on Sloopy," the southern fried classic rock favorite "Sweet Home Alabama," 70s dance hits "Brick House" and "Play That Funky Music White Boy," 80’s hits from bands like Journey, Def Leppard, Poison, and Prince, party favorites like "Love Shack," Sweet Caroline," & "I’ve Gotta Feelin," or the latest hits from groups/performers like Katy Perry, CeeLo Green, and Neon Tree, Cherry Blonde’s litmus test is, “If the crowd loves it, we play it.” Even some old style country. We specialize in music from 1978 through 1992. But certainly give a great deal of play to the classic rock era of the 60s and 70s.
The bands musical versatility is its greatest strength, only made possible by the experience of our band members. The Cherry Blonde project is a culmination of some of the best musicians and vocalists in central Ohio.
Lead vocalists Wayne Rowe & Kiersten Bowmer have performed together for thousands throughout Ohio, the Midwest, and the East coast from (phone number hidden)2 as part the professional contemporary vocal band 4 The Record. Having an experienced male and female lead vocalist that are naturals at creating harmonies from their time in the world of a cappella, gives Cherry Blonde a unique and flexible sound to help recreate just about any cover tune imaginable. Rowe is also a 12 year veteran of the theatre, incorporating his stage experience into every show. Although Cherry Blonde is Rowe and Bowmer’s first venture into performing with a rock band, they have each channeled their inner rock star finding new and exciting breadth in their voices.
1/2 of the rhythm section and founder of Cherry Blonde, Bill Hutchman began playing drums and percussion in 1977. Starting with bells, snare drum, and a practice pad kit, he has been adding drums and skill, while driving everyone in his house crazy ever since. Hutchman's musical influences include Stewart Copeland of the Police, Neil Peart of Rush, and Jeff Porcaro of Toto. Hutchman is also a trained HealthRythms Drum Circle facilitator and team building coach.
Lead guitarist Rich Conant started playing guitar in 1978 at the age of twelve. He was a classically trained pianist from the age of six up until then; but then he was introduced to the music of Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, RUSH and Aerosmith… all in the same summer and much to his parents’ chagrin! In the 34 years he has been a guitar player, if you’ve heard of it he’s probably played it… Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, 80’s Hair Metal, Progressive Metal, Jazz Fusion, Country and Praise & Worship. Rich is a music teacher, specializing in guitar and bass guitar, at the Delaware Music Academy in Delaware, Ohio.
Andy Lautzenheiser For as far back as he can remember Andy has loved to sing. This love led him to be involved in church shows, school musicals, plays and concerts, but it was when he turned 12, and began listening to more and more music, that his passion really grew. Although Andy likes all genres or music he grew up listening to a lot of rock thanks to his father. From heavy metal bands like Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, AC/DC, Van Halen to artists like Buddy Guy, J Geils Band, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. This, combined with classic artists such as The Beatles, Rush, and Led Zepplin as well as many modern heavy rock, or "Nu Metal" groups such as Project 86, Mudvayne, Linkin Park, System of a Down, Deftones, and Korn, shaped Andy into a hard rocker all through junior high and high school.
Andy bought his first electric guitar when he was 15. Even though he had an interest in playing bass then, he felt it would be fine to learn the basics without a bass. He played guitar in high school jazz band and performed in a few local bands although he never received any formal training. After graduating high school in 2005, Andy went to OSU Marion where he met Wayne Rowe and would join an a capella group Wayne helped create called "InChant". This is where he would also meet Kiersten. Andy would remain in the group for 2 years until 2007. During this time Andy would be in two different bands as the lead singer, lyricist, and at times bassist. It was the summer of 2007 when he first started to play an actual bass and he loved it from then on. This would continue until the fall of 2010 when the band Andy was in at the time would dissolve. Andy didn't play bass or guitar at all in that time until November of 2013 when he was contacted by Wayne about playing bass for Cherry Blonde. And after a 10 day brush up he was ready for his first show with the band, and it's been history since then.
Keyboard player Judi Dunkley joined Cherry Blonde in January 2014. She has had an affinity for music almost as long as she could talk. She started playing piano at the tender age 5 and by age 13 was the pianist for the junior high musicals at her school. She is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music; studying piano, bass guitar, music theory, theater, and conducting. One of her first loves is gospel music and Judi had the opportunity to be part of a professional gospel album recorded at Rome Recording Studios, Columbus Ohio in 1992 entitled, "Never Going Back." She has taught private music lessons since 1990. Judy played bass guitar/piano for her contemporary worship team from 1998 to 2013.
Cherry Blonde performs for every event and venue from A-Z including: amphitheaters, anniversaries, award nights, bachelor parties, bachelorette parties, banquets, bars, bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs, birthdays, campgrounds, casinos, celebrations, clubs, cocktail parties, coffee houses, colleges, conventions, corporate events, country clubs, dance clubs, dinner dances, engagement parties, fairs, festivals, fraternities, fundraisers, grand openings, ground breakings, graduations, high schools, holidays, homecomings, mardi gras parties, night clubs, open houses, Quinceaeras, picnics, proms, private parties, retirements, restaurants, reunions, school assemblies, sororities, sweet 16, tailgate party, theatre, trade shows, universities, wedding receptions, weddings, zoos, and more!
