Ceol Leinn, Gaelic for "Music With Us," is a Celtic Performance band. Their music is traditional, romantic, and stirring, as is the history that is so much a part of our collective Celtic ancestry. The roots of Blue Grass and American Gospel are explored, along with the music coming from the Scottish Highlanders, their kin in Ireland, and music that they have arranged or written. The members are: Sarah Hinnant playing Bagpipes; Chip Mayes playing Bagpipes, Guitar, Bass; Laurie Fisher playing Violin and Keyboard; Mike Harrington playing Electric Guitar; Jeff Haas playing Lead Percussion; and Mindy Armstrong playing the Celtic War Drums, bass, and hand drums. There are four vocalists.
Ceol Leinn brought the house down at the St. Patrick's Day concert at the Restored Pulaski Theatre in downtown Pulaski Virginia. Twin bagpipes in a theatre setting was an awesome sound. The favorite of the guys in the crowd was the fetching lady on the war drums. The group made the evening a rousing success.

What to Expect
During a Ceol Leinn concert that you might attend, you could very well experience an awakening of the Celtic Spirit that is the heritage of so many.
At the same time there will be a revelation of sorts as the audience hears and learns where Blue Grass Music came from.
Ceol Leinn is a cultural performance group with over 130 years of musical experience. They combine history, entertaining experience, and contemporary and world music to provide an entertaining event. They frequently invite local choral groups or collage and church choral groups to perform with them making a spectacular concert.
Ceol Leinn presents a family oriented performance and spans all generations. The influence of Scottish and Irish music on American music is undeniable and very direct. Such influences are explored and played for the enjoyment of the audience... as are contemporary sounds from the likes of Pink Floyd... or the Grateful Dead. When this band plays the audience is swept up into rhythm and sound that gets them clapping and sometimes even attempting a Highland Jig.
The combination of instruments in this band is unique and exciting. Members of the band play several instruments which affords a wide range of music to perform. The primary instrumentation is: two bagpipes, two guitars, bass, violin, keyboards, mandolin, penny whistle, Celtic war drums, hand drums, and a concert drum kit. Any given time you may hear a twelve string acoustic guitar, along with a mandolin, penny whistle, violin, bass, bagpipes, and concert drums. Or, you could hear two bagpipes, guitar, violin, a pipe band snare drum, and bass drum.
