In concert, Caitlin will provide music that draws the listener in, closer to the heart of God. The variety of her repetoire appeals to young and old alike. Her desire to honor God through her music is obvious. Her energy and personable stage presence will keep audience members engaged throughout the event. Her naturally talented and well trained voice will soothe and speak to hearts.
Caitlin strives to bring an authenticity to her secular music as well. Everything she sings is chosen because it speaks to her heart in some way.
Caitlin Overton was singing by the time she could talk. She was blessed with a church that believed in giving children the opportunity to develop God-given talent. She sang her first solo at Cortland Trinity Baptist Church at age 5. Caitlin performed her first 20-minute “solo concert” at age 8, for the Maplewood Alumni Dinner in Johnston, Ohio. Since then, she’s been busy growing up and performing at many church and community functions around Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. Now at age 17, Caitlin has earned seventh place out of 52 contestants at the prestigious National Quartet Convention Soloist Talent Search in Louisville, Kentucky, in September 2010. She won the title of “Trumbull Idol” in July 2010 and is the recipient of several other first place awards at various local competitions.
Caitlin has attended the Steve Hurst School of Music in Nashville/Cleveland, Tennessee, each summer since 2007. She highly recommends this intense week of instruction to anyone involved in Christian music ministry.
It is Caitlin’s desire to use her music to introduce people to her Savior and friend, Jesus Christ. She released her first CD, "The Truth about Love," in 2009. Her second CD is due to be released in September 2012. This project, called "Pieces of My Heart," includes eleven of Caitlin's favorite songs, each chosen to represent a specific part of who she is. There are several Southern gospel selections, a couple of hymns, two Broadway tunes, and two standards from the 1940s.
Caitlin became a Christian at a very young age. In 2007, while at the music school in Nashville, she received a clear call from God that she should sing for Him. Since then, she has been singing everywhere He gives her the opportunity. Caitlin has also led a Bible study/prayer group after hours at her public school and was thrilled to be the organizer and director of the Kids’ Praise Team while at Cortland Trinity Baptist Church in Cortland, Ohio. She is currently involved with the worship team at her home church, Grace Fellowship Church, in Niles, OH.
Caitlin believes that God has called her to influence people for Christ through her music. She deliberately chooses music that speaks clearly of Him. In concert, Caitlin provides a good mix of contemporary southern gospel and praise and worship music, as well as the occasional standard classic tune, using accompaniment CDs. She also provides special music for church services, whether a church wants one song or several, and is available for weddings, providing standard classic love songs.
Caitlin is currently in her senior year of high school and plans to attend Lee University in Cleveland, TN, with her eye on an eventual career in music therapy. In the interim, she is open to whatever opportunities God brings her way.
Caitlin usually provides her own sound equipment and currently uses professional backing tracks on CD as accompaniment. Lighting will need to be provided by the venue.
Caitlin has a wide repetoire that allows her to cover many different types of events. Contact us for more information.
