Josh White III
Actor Playwright Mime
Began performing at the age of 12 in the Boulan Middle School production of Cheaper By The Dozen and he¬タルs been doing theatre ever since.
Having received his formal theatrical training at WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY (Class of ¬タル85), Josh spent a good portion of his college career touring Detroit and its surrounding area touring his children¬タルs show, The Land of Everywhere in elementary and middle schools. Written for the International Years of Youth (1984) and Peace (1985), Josh and co-author Robert C. Williams were asked to showcase The Land of Everywhere at the Children¬タルs Theatre Symposium and at the American Theatre Association Convention in 1985.
Josh also formed a mime company with Robert Williams, Thomas Johnson and Ernie McDaniel during those years and THE MIME STREET MIME COMPANY toured sections of the state of Michigan and parts of Canada. The entire company was accepted and studied with Marccel Marceau for two years.
Josh moved to Chicago where he was a member of several theatre companies, performing 4 - 5 shows a year while continuing to tour The Land of Everywhere. As a member of THE GROWING STAGE THEATRE COMPANY in Evanston, Josh adapted The Brother¬タルs Grimm fairytales and they bussed-in 1000 school children, from all over the city, weekly, for the next 18 months. During his time in Chicago Josh was nominated for several Joseph Jefferson awards for acting or direction.
The past 10 years have been spent with Josh touring an educational writing program to elementary, middle and high school students throughout 9 different states. Young Authors Day uses mime as the medium to get children to listen to the stories they¬タルre being shown and then are challenged to write similar stories of their own. As an all day assembly, Josh performs 2 shows, one in the morning, to introduce he children to mime, and theatre and to show them what they have to look forward to, and a second performance in the afternoon in which the entire show has been written by the students.
Josh is also the grandson and son of world renown musicians Josh White and Josh White, Jr.
