The Brass Eagle Squadron Music Ensemble steps off the bus looking very sharp in their uniforms. We haven’t played a note of music yet, but for us the performance has already begun.
The brass instruments gleam in the light. As we start playing the music, the music gets inside you and your foot starts to tap along. You might even clap in time with the music. At the end of the performance, you find yourself clapping enthusiastically at the spectacular performance.
Audiences will be treated to a unique visual and audio experience unlike that which they have ever seen. With high quality music and stunning visuals the audience will experience music like they have never heard before. Add in all of the patriotic and holiday music that our ensemble plays, then the audience will be in for a once-in-a-lifetime type of experience.
Brass Eagle Squadron Music Ensemble was formed with the intention of playing high quality patriotic music that is both visually and aurally appealing for veterans, service members, and their families. We do this to honor the sacrifices of those individuals and their families and to call attention to the issues that veterans and service members face. We also provide Holiday Entertainment to residents of retirement communities to help spread the joys of the holiday season. Our ensemble was officially formed in January of 2012, but the idea behind the group has been in development for many years prior to that.
During his college years our Executive Director Matthew Hurley first formed the seeds for the concept of this ensemble. Leading a student run ensemble during his college years, Matthew first realized the potential that an ensemble like this could achieve. After college, Matthew continued to be involved with music; playing and working for many different ensembles, teaching private lessons, and keeping in touch with colleagues involved with the music industry. When his last private lessons student graduated in 2011, Matthew decided that it was time to take the idea of the ensemble and develop it to form a new ensemble unlike any other currently in existence. He formed a core group of officers to help him develop and establish the Brass Eagle Squadron Music Ensemble as a legitimate organization. Matthew brought on board officers with the same type of passion and commitment to excellence that he has to develop and form the ensemble.
The members of the organization believe in the same core values of honoring veterans, service members, and their families. They believe in that mission and have been looking for opportunities to give back to the veterans and service members. When approached to be a part of the organization, many of them jumped at the chance, as they recognized that this would be a great opportunity for them to be able to give back. The majority of the members played music in college and service bands. They are all highly skilled in their individual instruments. Many of them play secondary instruments. All of them realized the crucial role that they play in creating this type of organization to be able to play for veterans, service members and their families. They are not individual members, but part of a cohesive group that shares a common vision and passion.
Our members donate their time and their talents to produce the product of the ensemble. All of the members give up time with families, friends and loved ones to be able to rehearse and play in performances because they see the value in what we do. As a nonprofit organization, it is great to have dedicated folks such as this to help ensure that we will be able to continue to perform our mission of playing for veterans, service members, and their families and raise awareness of the issues that they face. We would not be able to accomplish this without the support of our members and the support of the communities in which we serve.
Space will be needed during the performance to accommodate as few as 5 and as many as 25 performers. Chairs will need to be provided (if possible) for the performers. Microphone and PA equipment will need to be provided for large rooms and outdoor performances.
