The core of Bossa Blue is a group of 4 extrordinary musicians who share a love for old school Bossa Nova, the soul sounds of the 60s and 70s, R&B, classic and contemporary.…We create a musical stew, blending these musical elements to give the soundtrack of our lives a unique re-working. The sound and delivery is kind of retro-lounge kind of gone off the rails. Its fun, its rich, its romantic, its unexpected and unless you are strapped down, you will want to move your body. The set up is straightforward electric guitar, piano, bass and drums/percussion, however, all band members sing, so you will find each song rich with harmony and vocal interplay. Beyond the core of the band, we often have great jazz players and singers sit in with us so the foot print of the band can grow to fit the room. The sets and setlists are more about the songs and sounds we collectively love as opposed to just grabbing hits and reworking them. Also depending on the venues and the audience, we can tone up for a dance set or tone down for chill and romantic or we can mix it up.

Bossa Blue is the vision of award-winning songwriter and bandleader Brad Cole. A veteran of the Chicago music scene and current resident of New York City, Brad has 5 studio albums under his belt. His 2016 release 'Lay It Down' has received critical acclaim; 'No Depression' Magazine says "Lay It Down masterfully takes listeners from the familiar spaces of reflective, lyric-driven folk music to the expansive reaches of Bossa Nova jazz. It’s a beautiful album."
Since 2010, Brad has toured constantly across the U.S., sharing the stage with the likes of talented musicians such as Chris Stapleton, James Hunter, Ingrid Michelson, Shovels & Rope, and Dave Davies Of The Kinks, to name a few.
“I grew up on jazz and, over the years, I became a total bossa-phile. The idea of re-arranging and playing some of my favorite rock/soundtrack-of-my-life tunes into a jazz/bossa construct feels like a natural progression for me as an artist. And it is really fun. The blues elements are just where I come from as a person. So, going through my jazz collection with the idea of playing basic and raw interpretation of these tunes is like hitting the jackpot for me. This band is a true collaboration and we are always looking for great soloists to sit in.” - Brad Cole
