“Professional Purveyor of Good Times,” Deanna Danger is an international performance artist skilled in many genres, based in Richmond, VA and Washington D.C. Known as “The Warrior of Burlesque,” her sometimes dangerous, always crowd-pleasing performances have graced stages from her home and across the US & Canada from New York, to Toronto, Chicago, Dallas, St. Louis, New Orleans, Miami, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and her hometown, Orlando. She is the 2012 “Crystal Corset Award” Winner of the “Pennsylvania Burlesque Festival,” the reigning voted #1 “Best Burlesque Performer” in Style Weekly's annual "Best of Richmond" poll, and Richmond’s 2016 “Entertainer of the Year”.
Deanna Danger has performed around the American burlesque festival circuit consistently since her festival debut in the 2010 “New York Burlesque Festival.” Festival highlights include her performances in the 2013 - 2016 “Show Me Burlesque & Vaudeville Festival” in St. Louis and her International debut in the 2014 “Toronto Burlesque Festival.” Deanna has a deep passion for burlesque and vaudeville history, which has manifested in a penchant for producing in historic theaters and venues across the region, as well as turning unearthed vaudeville & early Americana history into show themes. In 2012, she produced “Byrlesque At The Byrd,” the first and only burlesque show held in the Richmond deco movie palace and landmark “Byrd Theatre.” She is also the producer of the “RVA Cabaret,” benefit show series which raises funds for the upkeep of the non-profit arts venue and Richmond historic relic, “Gallery 5,” in the “Harlem of the South,” and current revitalized arts district, “Jackson Ward.” In 2013, her large-scale show series expanded to include the historic “Jefferson Theater” in Charlottesville, VA, which she produced to a sold out crowd in December of 2014, and to the “State Theatre” in Falls Church, VA in 2015. In 2016 she debuted the “Butchertown Burlesque” series to Richmond and Charlottesville. A vintage classic burlesque show performed to the live jazz music stylings of the Butchertown Cats Orchestra, which is a speakeasy style throwback to the days of street gangs and sanctioned red light districts in turn-of-the-century Richmond, VA. Also a diehard fan of classic literature, dance and many other artistic mediums, Deanna debuted two successful, full-scale, theatrical touring productions derived from classic works and reinterpreted with a modern vaudeville edge in the fall of 2015. Her co-production of “The Haunting of Poe” reworks the writings and life of Richmond godfather of horror, Edgar Allan Poe, and “KnucklesCracker,” her take on “The Nutcracker Ballet” both tour the Virginia, DC and Maryland regions.
Deanna Danger has also been a dance, theater and burlesque instructor since January, 2010. Her studio “Boom Boom Basics Burlesque & Performing Arts Studio” is Virginia’s premier burlesque studio offering a full educational and community support program, with classes in Richmond, as well as weekend workshops in many East Coast cities. Deanna is also an accomplished model, aerialist, go-go dancer, actress, seamstress, makeup artist, and graphic designer. Aside from producing shows & teaching around Richmond, DC, and the East Coast region, Deanna is also Headmastress & choreographer of “The Boomettes,” the official dance troupe of “Boom Boom Basics,” producer & founder of national touring troupe, The “Mason Dixie Burlesque Tour,” producer & founder of the Richmond Tattoo & Arts Festival Miss Pinup RVA Competition, co-founder of the “Capital City Burlesque & Vaudeville Festival,” and was the Headmistress of the “Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School,” Richmond, VA Branch from 2010-2014.
