I can play sheet music, but am more of an improv musician. You name the key, and I will put something to it. I grew up playing contemporary christian music and jazz. Kenny G and Sam Levine were my inspiration growing up. I love Kenny's sound, and I want to try to get close to that without losing my own unique qualities. I would like to play for a band, a show, or a jazz band. I am not really into playing on the street by myself, but would be willing to do that. Finding a Christian group or atmosphere would be ideal for me.

I will be able to read sheet music and improv. I can also fill and solo without music.
I am a 25 year old Christian saxophone player who wants to make music a career one day. I love God, and I have primarily played contemporary christian music and jazz. I can read sheet music, but prefer to improvise. As long as I know the key, I can usually listen and fill the gaps, as well as solo when it's called for. As a saxophone player, I am a supporting artist in the music, not featured unless it calls for it. I believe a good saxophone player knows when to stop playing. You don't want your audience to get tired of you, especially not the other musicians.
I started playing saxophone when I was in fifth grade. Around middle school age I joined a praise band at my church which I have played in until this year (2014), as well as another praise band I started playing with in 2012. In high school I played solos for Districts and State. I was a Section Leader, Drum Major, and the Head Drum Major of our marching band.
I went to college at Missouri State University where I played in the marching band and two different concert ensembles. Jerry Hoover was the director of the marching band, as well as one of the ensembles I was in. I also was in a jazz band.
I graduated with a degree in Marketing Management, but still have a love for music. I have learned that it takes dedication, personal study, and mentors to help move you beyond your current skill level. Recently I have been learning to use a proper embouchure, change the sound I get by using different mouthpieces or reed sizes, etc. I have also learned how important technique is on the saxophone, and I am working to practicing good technique to quicken my fingers to play more technical licks. I am committed to getting better. Even Kenny G says he's not there yet. If he can say that, then I definitely need to be putting in the consistent effort to growing my abilities to God's glory.
I hope I can be a blessing to whoever would call upon me to play for them.
May need a microphone if the band I am playing with is loud.
I need the key of each song that the band I am playing with is doing.
The two praise bands I have been in, Missouri State University bands, and my high school band director has influenced me as a musician.
Possible microphone and room for my saxophone stand.
