Bobby Jo was simply the best.
His music was perfect -- some of his originals are ideal for a wedding, he played three of his originals at key moments for us, and he has a breadth of covers he can play from other artists. Many of the comments we got about the day were about how perfect the music was.
He's one of the rare artists who with just a guitar or uke and his voice captivates the audience with just the right emotional tone.
He was flexible and adapted to the unplanned/unknown in the service (he extended brilliantly to accommodate a couple of timing glitches)
His personal charm was evident in every interaction with us and our guests.
Add to that professionalism all around in all the logistics and mechanics of such a critical part of wedding day, we recommend him with the highest rating possible, and then some!
Bobby Jo Valentine is an incredibly talented gentleman! He has a genuine personality and a magnificent voice! We got incredibly lucky when we found him to sing for us at our wedding on October 1, 2016. He is very easy to work with! He made our wedding feel much more magical and romantic! His ability to sing a wonderful variety of songs along with his soothing voice made all of our guests so incredibly intrigued by him! We highly recommend him for any event, but definitely for any wedding! <3 Absolutely STUNNING!
Bobby Jo is amazing! From the first moment of contact to our last hug goodbye he is perfect! Our guests loved him!! He made our day perfect with his beautiful singing. We definitely made the right choice!! Thank you Bobby Jo!!
Bobby Joe was the singer at our wedding in Santa Rosa on 4/4/2015 and we could not have been happier. His style, song list and the few request we had all came together perfectly for us.
Highly recommend for any event---
John and Ken
Bobby Jo might be the nicest musician around! My husband and I hired him for our July wedding for the ceremony, cocktail hour and first dance. We loved his original songs, and incorporated them along with other songs we liked into our day. He worked with us on editing our first dance song so it would work with our choreographed dance, and he even learned a new song to play when we exited the aisle for our ceremony. He was such a joy to work with, and his style perfectly fit our wedding and what we were looking for. Overall, he is a wonderful musician, and I would highly recommend him!
My wedding guests could not get enough of BJV- not only did they rave about him at the event, but we received text messages and calls days after our wedding from guests wondering who our guitarist was. I began communicating with BJV last Fall, he came highly recommended from my venue (Villagio) and he didn't disappoint. I was impressed with his email communication (timely and effective) as well as his adaptability (2 mos before the event I increased his contracted time so that I could have him play through our cocktail hour and dinner). In addition, BJV did a beautiful job with our ceremony music-- our guests enjoyed his fun style and appreciated the warm touch of having a singing guitarist play for our wedding. I absolutely recommend him for weddings!
"Dubbed the nicest guy ever to pock up an accoustic guitar" by the LA Weekly is an understatement. Bobby Jo Valentine is remarkably talented. His version of "A Thousand Years" is moving. Sum up talent, charismatic personality with a genuinely warm heart; you have "Awesome!" all around. Don't miss a peformance when he comes around. Wow!
We invited Bobby Jo to Bodega Bay Lodge to sing at our wedding ceremony, reception and first dance upon hearing a few clips online. His music brought us back to that feeling of when we first fell in love. The energy and spirit which he brings to any venue is pure magic. Not only will you be graced by his talent but also his heart...he gives all of himself to a performance. Every word he sings and note he plays is a reflection of 'you' which allows your story to unfold. His music transcends all generations and genres. He is incredibly professional on every level, and hiring him truly is a gift you will be giving yourself.
I am something of a music snob but I absolutely love Bobby Jo Valentine's work. He is a true artist. His music transcends the superficial slop that is popular today. His songs have depth and feeling.
He is a cool guy and very easy to work with. He truly is my favorite musician.
Bobby was everything I had dreamed of in a guitar vocalist for our wedding (and I had been dreaming about my wedding day since I was 5). He played for our wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and first dance.. and I HIGHLY recommend him! Here's a summary of how he made our wedding day magical and memorable:
In terms of planning: We chose Bobby based on his audio clips, Youtube videos.. and his personality. Bobby was the easiest (perfect) vendor to work with. He was VERY responsive, reliable, professional, proactive and accommodating. He has such a sweet personality and really aims to please his clients. He's reasonably priced compared to other vendors out there, especially since he really went above and beyond for us, playing both guitar and ukulele (since my hubby's from Hawaii), and learned 2 new songs for our ceremony and first dance! I actually loved his versions more than the originals!
In terms of skills and performance: His performance was flawless. I can't count the number of guests who came up to us to compliment Bobby and ask us for his name. One guest thought he was Jack Johnson at first! Bobby played all the songs at the right time and skipped parts of songs as we had asked. Setup time and moving into the reception for the first dance was quick and smooth. I also loved his style; he was dressed professionally but not too formal, perfect for a Napa outdoor wedding. To top it all off, it was such a nice surprise to have Bobby playing our song when we walked in for a private "first-look" of the reception hall.. so romantic. He's such an amazing, multi-talented artist and we are so lucky to have had him be a part of our special day.
Thank you so much, Bobby!!!
Bobby Jo played at my wedding in September and he did a fantastic job. He was beyond professional and played the perfect mix of songs. Many of our guests are frequent concert goers and they all were impressed by his voice and professionalism. I would without a doubt book him again and I definitely recommend him to any bride- he provides such a great experience for the guests.
I worked with Bobby Jo Valentine at my clients' wedding and he was fantastic! He was a great communicator from the beginning, from coordination of the schedule to install to client song choices. Bobby Jo has an enigmatic performance and brought the ceremony to another level. He would be an awesome addition to any wedding!
We were lucky enough to have Bobby Jo Valentine play at both our wedding ceremony and reception. His music helped create a perfect night, not only did he play all the right songs at the right times (we gave him creative freedom), he took on the daunting task of being our master of ceremonies. He was laid back and easy to work with and really helped our special night be that much better.
Bobby is extremely professional, reliable, talented, flexible, and reasonable. I am so happy he was able to come and play his music for my wedding. You will be glad to have him play your event too. Check out his website he plays shows all over. We go see him every chance we get.
I had been watching BJV online and was anticipating his live performance at my client/friend's Wedding. I was instantly Star Struck, BJV has that magic that makes you stop right in your tracks. His voice and performance was so soothing and exciting because he is So Good!! I felt like I was the only girl in the room ~ but alas there were other ladies star struck too! When Bobby Jo started to play, the Bride Lit UP ~ His voice is enchanting! He played during dinner & for the "First Dances" and he was Just Perfect , he made these special moments even better because he is One of a kind!
Where to start, there is something special and magical about Bobby Jo Valentine!! Beautiful music with the type of warmth and personality that makes you feel like he's been one of your best friends even after meeting him for the first time. Bobby Jo helped me create the perfect night and perfect proposal for my recent fiancé and me in Kauai during the end of May 2013. So thankful for all his help (feedback) and patience during the months of planning and last minute detail changes. I couldn't give a higher recommendation (and for those that know me that is extremely hard to get from me)! I can't wait to fly him to Chicago next year to have him play at our wedding! 5 out of 5 stars (is a 6 out of 5 star rating possible?)!

Bobby played our event in the caves at Miner Vineyards. Our 50 guest loved the music and Bobby Jo's easy style, both in his original tunes and covers. We highly recommend him!
Once a month we host a First Friday music event for our community and invited Bobby to perform. He was easy to work with and charmed the audience with his professionalism and talent.
Bobby made our night even more special and memorable as we walked into the private dining room hearing him play one of our favorite songs. We enjoyed choosing each song from his play list as well as choose two songs which were not on his list. This made it very personal and unique. My only disappointment was that we should have booked him longer! I definitely recommend bobby for any special event :)
I attended BJV "Home" album release concert. I'm not into love songs, but man oh man did Booby get the crowd going. His energy and personality win the audience over from the second he gets on stage to the standing ovation at the end. I Still listen to his CD all the time.
We had Bobby Jo play for our cocktail hour, dinner and first dance at our wedding....and I absolutely cannot say enough about how fantastic he was, from our first contact over email all the way through his last note played!
He was so quick with responses, easy to work with, reliable and was so flexible to help make our wedding day very personal (learning new songs and changing beats to make our first dance how we wanted it) - and then there was his performance... AMAZING! I can't tell you how many guests asked us who he was and where we found him! He was so professional and his performance was absolutely incredible. He made our wedding day so unique, special and perfect!
Highly, highly recommended!
I recently hired Bobby Jo to play at a wedding that I was coordinating. As a wedding planner I work with a lot of musicians. Bobby Jo was very professional and did an amazing job. All the guests were talking about how good he was. Bobby Jo played for the ceremony and was able to play the traditional Canon D but also learned a Cold Play song just for my bride and groom because that was what they wanted to walk back up the aisle too. We had him play the cocktail hour too and his song list is the perfect music and vibe for a cocktail hour. I would defiantly hire him and look forward to working with him again in the future.
Bobby Jo provided the perfect music for my son's intimate, outdoor wedding ceremony. His contribution to the occasion was fantastic. He is such a professional in every way and I am so thankful he was a part of our special day. Bobby Jo is a talented musician with a warm heart and it is an absolute pleasure to do business with him.
We hired Bobby Jo for our event last October 2011 after finding him on Gigsalad. He was amazing, so we naturally hired him again for our next event which was yesterday. He is, without a doubt, a huge part of what makes our event successful. He is easy to work with, punctual, supportive, adaptable and always has a positive outlook. Everyone always comments on how much they enjoyed the music aspect of our event – that is all thanks to Bobby Jo!
Some examples, we hired him for some acoustic live music and some intermittent light DJing to be set up in one area, he went above and beyond to accommodate a last minute need for short term music an another area. He also helped step in to MC (not what we hired him for) a few times and did a great job. He also help ease my nerves before announcing since I am in no way a good public speaker.
Always supportive and reliable. He will always be our go to for events and we recommend him to everyone!
I could go on and on about how Poetic, Meaningful, Deep, Enlightening, Enchanting, Happy and Entertaining Mr. Bobby Jo Valentine's music is, both in person and via his CD. But, TALK is cheap. Here are my ACTIONS concerning this Singer/Songwriter.... As the 2010 to 2011 year progressed within the West Coast Songwtriter's organization, I tuned in to the You Tube videos of Bobby Jo. I literally saw this young man rise to the top and take the final win for his song, " Fly. " ( I also literally, " called it. " Meaning that I designated Mr. Valentine the winner before he actually won. ) So, after 18 years of constant work and other ugly things that included NOT attending any live music, I picked myself up, dusted off and made it to one of his appearances in Sacramento. THEN, I got on an airplane and flew to Tacoma, WA to see him again. THEN, I decided to get on another airplane, about the next week, and see him in Seattle... Bobby Jo Valentine is my Happy Place. I am sure that he would be yours too. ACTION !!
Bobby Jo Valentine played a set at an impromptu house party at my loft in San Jose. As he is new to the music scene, no one in attendance had heard of him before. He amazed the audience with his performance and left them wanting more. Now my friends are listening to his CD nonstop!
Music aside, Bobby is a great person with a tenacious work ethic. I hope to see him do great things in the music business.
Life is partially about what you're meant to do, what you're made to do and what you choose to do. Bobby Jo fills all three categories with his love of music. He is not just a talented musician, but is a genuine soul and enjoys telling stories about life. So many songs about loss, love, and life are on the music market right now, but Bobby Jo's songs are different. Bobby Jo's songs don't just offer an ear for comfort, they give the motivation to find and protect what's right for YOU. He teaches that we should indeed follow our hearts. He'll travel 3000 miles for you; Abuse it! You WANT to hear Bobby Jo in person. The CD is great, but his personality and stories are something you just don't want to miss.
Do NOT miss seeing this amazing guitarist/singer/songwriter/entertainer! Bobby Jo is the real deal!
Bobby joe valentine...simply put...aims from the heart...enters truthfully through the ears...leaves no trash in his wake...i enjoy his work
My husband and I love music, and we started listening to Bobby Jo after the release of his new CD…now we're hooked on his music. He brings heart and meaning to his songs, along with awesome guitar and ukulele talent, and catchy lyrics that we find ourselves singing to even when the music stops! We've introduced his music to friends and family, and everyone who's heard him, enjoys the music, and asks, "Who is that?" We've been to his gig at Copperfield's in Petaluma and Hotmonk in Sonoma, and his record release at Max's in Corte Madera, which was a blast. He engages generously with his audience and is very humble and appreciative, all adding to his appeal. If you want a new, unique sound that gets you going and relaxes you at the same time, this artist is a must-hear, must-see.

Bobby Jo Valentine is an award-winning singer/songwriter from the windy, rocky cliffs the San Francisco Bay Area. His first album, ‘A Place to Belong’ released to favorable reviews and his single “Be Mine” had radio airplay even before the album’s release. His warm, accessible melodies and often-profound lyrics have developed a following around the nation. In August of 2011, a song from the album, “Fly” won Song of the Year at West Coast Songwriter’s Association. Most recently, he was filmed in a commercial for the new 2013 Ford Fusion.
His new album "Home" attacks matters of the heart with catchy choruses and a wonderful team of musicians behind him. Calvin Turnbull is at the producing helm, who has worked with Sheryl Crow, Five for Fighting, and other greats; David Hayes, known best for his work with Blondie and Van Morrison, brings his timeless sound to the bass tracks; and Dave Tweedie, one of the biggest drummers in the pop industry today, adds melodic, catchy rhythms to the light-hearted melodies that echo Bobby's surprising lyrical depth for a 26-year old growing up on the coasts of Northern California.
Bursting with energy at times and filled with uplifting, honest messages about hope and life’s struggles, Bobby continues to gather new listeners with every show. “Armed with just a guitar and ukulele, Bobby aims straight for the heart.” -Bruce Kaplan, Folk Unlimited.
Bobby Jo Valentine's music is a perfect fit for weddings, college campuses, theatre performances, and more.
