This show is about the unspoken side of success. It is a one man dramatic performance, delivered with original music, poems & monologues and includes an engaging, facilitated talk back about a life that speaks to the struggles of ambition.
We offer it on-site or off-site, with or without a three course meal served with wine from our private chef.
This show is prime for use around issues of mental health & well being, for Employee Assistance Programs, for Speaking Engagements focused on success, mental health or specifically depression and Conferences for industries on Entrepreneurship, Creative Work, Social Work, Therapy, Success, Balance, Marriage, Depression and/or Relationships.
The Bobby Drake show is a must see event. His show is captivating and thought provoking. His style is smooth, it's unlike any poetry or spoken word performance you'll encounter. Men and women alike can relate to to his tales about life, love and pursuing your dreams.
Bobby Drake has created a formula for providing the best experience of a theatrical performance through powerful words, subtle movements, multi-octave tones. He takes you on a journey of struggle, pain, reflection and self-embattled thoughts and decisions that lead to temporary satisfaction through thoughts but gratification through final actions. It is a must see that can create an experience that is able to bond individuals of personal relationship or business. The talk-back of the show, allows all that attend to reflect on the words of the story and give their honest insight and response to the performance. It is at times accompanied by questions that forces the human soul to be true to self and solidify that truth by having individuals respond aloud and hear the realization of some things that some may have experienced or witness others experience. It is an icebreaker for personal life, business life ... for life in general. I am proud to have had Bobby Drake take up residency at Pleasant Kafe over the course of the last 31 shows. I look forward to Southern Quarters providing sponsorship for 31 more at Pleasant Kafe. Great job Bobby Drake and as always ... EPIC PERFORMANCE!

What to Expect
The show is entertainment first and foremost. It is performed by me using music with spoken word poetry and monologues that are acapella, intermixed to carry the story of an artist who falls into a depression over the course of his journey to be successful.
After I finish, guests are invited to a buffet line to get their food which has been prepared by our chef and served by additional servers. We offer a four course meal with 3 menu options and wine. The guests return to their seats and as a group, I facilitate a discussion leading with the themes of the show.
The discussion and topics covered align with the show and the strategic purpose of bringing you and the client or potential client into agreement to deepen the relationship between you. It serves as a relationship building endeavor much the same way going to a movie and dinner does.
You and I will have a conference before hand to break down the menu options and possible allergies or general aversions, the timing (show runs 45 min, serving is 15 min or less depending on total number of guests and the talk back is a minimum 30min-maximum 60 min), as well as liability and desired outcomes. Logistics are added to the conversation if this is outside of Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan or Indiana.
One evening my mother and I were walking in the parking lot on our way into the grocery store. I was six. She asked me had I given any thought to what I want to be when I grow up. Without breaking stride I confidently stated "A ninja and a race car driver." Also...without breaking stride my mother responded "Well. You will need to do a lot of studying, and face some hardships as I don't think there are many race car drivers like us. And I don't believe the market for espionage is as high here as overseas so you'll need to find work over there as a ninja ". I gave a "oh okay is that it?" noise and we walked into the store.
That moment gave me all the power I needed in life. Later it would become why I chose to go to the H.S. of Entrepreneurship. Why, at 17, I partnered with a CDC to write the business plans for an area experiencing growth through an early planning grant machine.
That story is why I ended up being a spoken word artist that's toured the country. It’s why I STILL love sports coupes even though I’m too tall to fit comfortably in most.
That "I-can-do-anything-just-tell-me-what-the-requirement-is" attitude is why I became the first artist to receive a loan for an independent album-becoming a W.W.B.I.C. (Wisconsin Womens Business Initiative Corp) client and winning Best Spoken Word Album 2015. It's why after getting the loan I sought a way to develop my journey into a practical class that helps creative professionals become better project managers, so they can be ready for investment capital to achieve their dreams on their terms, with deep niche markets.
If my mother had said, "you can't do that" I'm not sure I’d be as fearless as I am about obstacles.
I have spent the past 12 years being a spoken word artist (also referred to as a poet) and music producer based in the city of Milwaukee, WI. I've performed all over the United States for colleges and universities, basement parties, public forums in front of celebrities and in class rooms, teaching the fundamentals of performance and the business side . I have become known as engaging to my audiences, vulnerable with my subject matter and aim to deliver that with each performance.
Additional Booking Notes
A minimum of 10 guests
A sound check before the show for compatibility with the portable system that I bring is needed to ensure the best quality audio mix between the music and microphone and space in the venue.
Access to electrical outlets for the Chef away from the space that I will be performing in so that he and the servers can set up the menu options and presentation of the food.
The effect of building a relationship requires intimate space. This is any setting where the maximum comfortably seated capacity is 60 or less chairs. The closer people can be to one another the better. Stages are not preferred but if there is a stage, seating close to the stage is necessary to achieve the discussed desired outcomes. It is also preferred that there is nothing between a guest and myself.

Influences & Inspiration
My influence is theater. Not a specific play but the emotion you derive from seeing actors tell a story before your eyes, that make you reflect and contemplate where you stand.
