Most of the time, Santa Claus takes center stage when it comes to booking a holiday visitor for Christmas parties. But the saying goes that behind every good man is a good woman, and we couldn’t agree more! Mrs. Claus can bring something unique to your festivities this year, and we have all the reasons why you need her at your party. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

A brief history of Mrs. Claus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to MentalFloss.com<\/a>, Mrs. Claus didn’t make her first appearance until about 100 years after Santa Claus (based on Bishop of Myra St. Nicholas) transformed into the jolly old elf we know today. In a short story written in 1849 by missionary James Rees, Mrs. Claus is mentioned as accompanying Santa in disguise, seeking shelter from their travels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, she was mentioned more often in poems, stories, and songs \u2014 often portrayed as being a bit blunt and feisty with a take-charge attitude. Her persona has certainly softened a bit as time has gone on. Now, Mrs. Claus is pictured as a cookie-baking, hot chocolate-making, sweet, supportive partner for the big man in red.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is her main role?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The International Brotherhood of Real-Bearded Santas is a well-known association that offers education, tools, and community support to both professional Santa Clauses and Mrs. Clauses. According to their Mrs. Claus Pledge<\/a>, her main focus is maintaining a partnership with Santa Claus that is dedicated to “bringing a loving, joyful, and happy holiday to all.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pledge also proclaims that professional Mrs. Clauses must devote themselves “to bringing a loving loyalty to the Santa Claus Legend and will do all in my power to encourage the sentiment that it is truly better to give than to receive.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In short, Mrs. Claus’s role is to provide a counterpart to Santa to help enrich his visits with families and children. However, Mrs. Claus can do a lot on a solo visit to entertain and encourage the spirit of Christmas! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
