What to Expect
There are no shortage of people, in the world, who can twist a balloon dog or a sword. Kids love them and there are some who are willing to do it all day long. I, myself, have a different approach. When a child asks me "What can you make?" I ask them "What's your favorite thing in the world?" While I can easily spend 15 minutes to 15 hours making amazing balloon sculptures, I can also come up with an impressive repertoire of creations, using only 1-3 balloons each, accented with different colors and markings, that will provide awes of wonder and amazement, one after the other. When the line isn't too long, and I have the time, I invite the kids to pull out their (or their parent's) phones and find me a picture of that obscure character that they just decided to challenge me with. If time isn't going to permit the task, I kindly explain to them the need to get to everyone waiting, and often am able to satisfy their second request.
Besides the diversity and creativity that highlight my service, my presence with the children is always kind and patient. I have three boys of my own and know how to be clear with my boundaries without coming across rude or crass. Whether I'm asking them to resist touching the balloons hanging from my apron, or explaining that I have to close the line because my time is almost up, I've learned, over the years, that kindness is my greatest tool to overcoming disappointment. I've learned that even when I'm pressed to get on to the next gig, a few moments to inflate a couple of untwisted balloons for those little ones who are going to give their parents grief, is a generosity worth extending.
I always arrive 30 minutes early, when performing, in effort to help you feel confident and calm that your hard work in planning the event is going to pay off as expected. I'm fully insured, and I provide contracts and invoices to help keep clear agreements between us and let you know what to expect.
When planning a decor installation, I'll spend ample time communicating with you to make sure that I'm meeting your needs and expectations, to the greatest of my ability. I offer realistic expectations for how long an installation will require. I have a few very talented artists that I work with, who I bring along when the job size, or the time window, requires the assistance.
My goal is to provide you with high-quality art, at a fair price, without the stress that can come when working with a hobbyist, or whatever novice that a booking agent can find to fill the slot. Your choice to work with me is going to be the kind of pleasure that you might hope for. Share your vision with me, and I'll make it my priority to bring it to life.
Jason began his journey in the art of air-i-gamy in 1998, working in restaurants and entertaining at parties. Since then he has traveled, tying balloons in dozens of cities throughout North and Central America. He has donned balloon hats on village elders in Guatemala, gifted balloon monkeys to orphans in Honduras, and decorated New Millennium bashes for millionaires in the southwestern hills. His award winning art has been published in trade magazines, and he has taught workshops at conventions and classrooms throughtout the U.S.
Additional Booking Notes
If you're hiring me to do balloon twisting at a party or festival, you'll be happy to know that the only thing I require is shade. Other than that, I'm self-contained with my balloons handing from my apron, and have no need for table or chairs. The sun, however, can quickly erode the integrity of the balloons, and if I'm standing in direct sunlight for too long, the balloons get brittle to work with, and that ends up being no fun for anyone. So, if this is an outdoor event, please plan accordingly.
For decor installations, every job is unique, and we will discuss the needs as they arrive. Usually, we bring just about everything we could need, and rarely require equipment.
