What to Expect
Ball in the House is a five-voice a cappella group composed of five of the greatest male voices in the greater Boston, MA area. They travel throughout the US and internationally each year performing in many different venues and for various audiences.
Repertoire includes pop, rock and R&B and shows can be customized for any event. There is a holiday show available as well as a music of the 50s and 60s plus their general pop/R&B show and school shows.
Ball in the House interacts with the crowd to make it a fun and memorable event. The corporate show allows for clients and employees to join-in on the fun and participate in the show with dancing and learning to beat-box.
Ball in the House travels with their sound system and all microphones and equipment needed to load-in, set-up and perform quite effortlessly. This group is a dream for event planners making for an all-inclusive show with very low production and minimal hospitality costs. They are seasoned professionals ready to make any event a success.
Following in the path of classic harmony groups like Boyz II Men, The Temptations, and Take 6, while incorporating the pop and neo-soul influence of artists like Bruno Mars, Daft Punk, and Pharrell Williams, five member veteran vocal band, Ball in the House, will move audiences and make audiences move.
With their extensive tour schedule (averaging 250 dates a year), Ball in the House reaches millions and is arguably one of the hardest working, most successful indie bands today. Over the more than fifteen years of touring, they have performed with several artists including The Beach Boys, Gladys Knight, Kool & the Gang, KC & The Sunshine Band, Jessica Simpson, and Smokey Robinson.
A review from the Boston Globe put it very succinctly - "Ball in the House has everything you would expect to find in a successful pop/rock band....the one thing it doesn't have is instruments."
Additional Booking Notes
Ball in the House can perform in almost any setting including outdoor venues. They travel with a sound system that can accommodate up to 1,200 audience members and they bring all of their own microphones and speakers. However, if the buyer prefers, they will use a house system and plug their mics and ipod into this system.
Lighting effects are desired but not required. Below is "desired" technical requirements but not mandatory for presenting a great show. Please inquire...
SOUND (we provide):
We can provide a sound system that will accommodate up to 1,200 people. One 20-amp AC circuit must be provided for the sole use of our backline. This outlet should be the same ground as the PA, and therefore there should be no lighting on this circuit. This should be placed within 5-feet of the audio snake going to the front of house. Sound and lighting should be on separate circuits. At no time should any lighting be connected to the sound service. All sound gear, including onstage power, should also preferably be tied to the same ground (on the same AC circuit or at least on the same leg of the 120-volt AC source.) If we are providing the full PA, we would need three 20amp circuits.
SOUND (purchaser provides):
Purchaser shall provide a first class sound system for the show. Ball in the House prefers a big, bottom-heavy sound for their beatbox and octave-shifted bass, loud enough so the audience feels the are in a concert, but not so loud that they would have to yell to talk. System should be at least tri-amped (3-way) and reproduce frequencies between 40 Hz-16 kHz. PA must provide clean, undistorted sound pressure levels (SPL) of at least 115 dB at the front of house console.
Unless otherwise noted, Ball in the House travels with a set of five wireless Shure UHF Beta 87A ULX microphones. Beheringer X32 Compact mixer, and Sennheiser EW300 in-ear monitor system, and will arrive with them at time of sound check. We will run the in-ear monitors ourselves. We do not currently travel with a separate sound engineer, but we do have the ability to mix the house from stage ourselves if deemed preferable or if an engineer is not available. If an engineer is available, the front of house console shall have at least 5 open channels, preferably not shared with other bands. Alternatively, we could provide a single mono line from our mixer and have the sound engineer control our mix through our setup via provided iPad remotely. This provides a faster setup and settings that will need less tweaking to get up-to-speed.
We do not require stage monitors or side fills.
Typically, we will not provide a specific lighting plot, so feel free to be creative with the stage lighting, with a minimum of a wash across the stage and house lights down. We do have a few lighting cues that we would love to add to the show if time permits and the lighting tech is available. We have two source 4 size B gobos that we use for most shows, either projected on the backdrop or possibly on the walls, and will bring these with us at load-in. Alternately, some venues use a projector, in which case we can provide a jpg of our logo to use instead.
