Hey there, thanks for checking out my profile!
I am a classically trained violinist and violist based in Norfolk, VA, with over twenty years of playing experience. I perform professionally for private and community events in addition to regular appearances with Galatea Chamber Music and the Virginia and Williamsburg Symphonies. I look forward to creating a memorable event with you!
I hired Ava to serenade my wife and I for a homemade Valentine’s Day dinner (#winningvalentines). Wow, not only was she exactly on time, lovely, kind, outgoing and accommodating, but what an amazing musician! She played one beautiful piece after another. My wife and I were so enthralled and wrapped up in the music. She truly made the evening magical. Couldn’t recommend her more. Every event could be improved by a live musician. Give Ava a try.
I hired Ava to play during the ceremony and reception of my client's wedding. Not only was she so accommodating on the last minute time change of the event, but she came on Thanksgiving of all days to help my clients have such a special day.
She improvised well at various parts of the ceremony and played beautiful music throughout the dinner. The groom's younger sister who is a violinist said Ava was fantastic and played some very difficult pieces.
Ava is a spectacular addition to any event and will make it unforgettable. Thank you for everything Ava!
Ava arrived early, stayed late and played nearly the entire 2.5 hours. Her mastery of the violin and the classics was obvious to our guests. The perfect compliment to a great wine event / evening ! Will hire again --
I hired Ava to play a musical piece for my engagement proposal... and I'm so glad I did.
Ava is the absolute best! She was very communicative and responsive leading up to my proposal day. Ava was especially accommodating to my requests as I planned out the surprise proposal.
The evening of the proposal she was on time and ready to perform.
I was even running a bit behind but Ava was very patient and understanding.
As the proposal took place, Ava was right on cue, playing the song perfectly and beautifully from beginning to end.
Ava made the proposal a memorable moment.
I would highly recommend Ava for any special event you're planning!

My background is in classical music, but you can request any genre for your event! Don't worry if your requests aren't written for violin or viola, I can make arrangements that are the right length and/or fit the atmosphere of your event.
Violinist and violist Ava Figliuzzi is a Minnesota native based in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, where she performs with Galatea Chamber Music and the Virginia, Williamsburg, and Richmond Symphonies.
In recent summers, Figliuzzi has received fellowships from Eastern Music Festival, Texas Music Festival, the Monteux School, Round Top Festival Institute, and Garth Newel Music Center. She also spent her formative summers assisting and eventually coordinating Lakes Area Music Festival’s community engagement program — striving to make professional, live classical music accessible to audiences in her northern Minnesota hometown.
Figliuzzi completed her master’s degree with Carol Cole at the Lynn Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida, and her undergraduate work with Bayla Keyes at Boston University, serving in concertmaster and principal positions at both. While in school, she actively freelanced with Palm Beach Symphony, Nu Deco Ensemble, Symphony of the Americas, Boston Chamber Symphony, and in 2019 backed Minneapolis-based hip-hop artist, Dessa, on her “Sound the Bells” tour.
During her graduate studies, Figliuzzi was the recipient of the 2023 M. Elizabeth “Maddy” Cumpton Endowed Memorial Award from the Lynn Conservatory and worked as a journalist for Palm Beach Arts Paper. She has had the opportunity to perform in several masterclasses with renowned artists such as Ida Kavafian, Elmar Oliveira, Kathleen Winkler, Judith Ingolfsson, Peter Wiley, Joshua Bell, and the Muir, Calidore, and Daedalus String Quartets.
