April Bond combines international melodic elements and tightly knit harmonies to create haunting melodies both in folk rock and Sanskrit chant music. Influences include Simon and Garfunkel, Gillian Welch, Deva Premal, Wah!, and Neko Case. She plays mainly solo, acoustic music, including other instruments depending on event location and size. She has decades of stage experience, first stepping onto the stage at age 4 and singing her first vocal solo at age 10. She grew up in a family of classical musicians, and music was the consistent bright spot in her life. She joined her first band at the age of 22 and hasn't left since.

Expect a well-rehearsed duo (or more depending on the venue and contract), two guitars and two voices, who will keep an audience in their seats rather than blowing them out of them. We are not too loud, our lyrics are intelligent and intelligible, and we will start on time. We play adult music for adults but children would not be damaged by hearing it.
The Unquiet Grave began in 2013 and is a partial reincarnation of Cain & April with the Original Sinners. The previous incarnation recorded two albums, a total of 27 original songs. Mark Asimus and April Nicholle (Bond nee Hunziker), who wrote and sang the music on both albums, continue to perform as The Unquiet Grave, returning to their more acoustic roots, including surprising harmonies and multi-ethnic folk rock sound. The Unquiet Grave revisits favorites from the Cain & April albums, as well as introducing new original songs and cover material originally performed by artists ranging from Graham Parsons to Gillian Welch, from the Beatles to Willie Nelson.
We prefer to play venues with sound equipment in place. We do have a portable sound setup that we can bring for an additional fee. We bring spare guitar and mic cables but expect our cables to be used only if the ones at the venue are not functional, or that a rental fee to use ours will be discussed prior to the event.
We expect a sound professional to be on site. If we have to provide our own sound technician, we know professionals we can recommend, but their fees will be in addition to the fee for the band.
We also assume the venue has event insurance and therefore carry insurance only on our own equipment (our guitars). However, we do have access to insurance and can arrange to insure our gig for the additional cost of that insurance (approximately $50 per show).
