Amie offers Indian sitar music with tabla accompaniment and some vocals, performing classical, traditional, and original music of India. Amie and her friend came to be with us for our 4th of July weekend Service last year. They played from the heart and gave their all.

Sitarist Dr. Amie Maciszewski is an award-winning artist and educator. Audiences and the media describe Amie’s classical sitar/tabla performances as “stunning,“”enchanting,” “amazing,” and her Indo-jazz fusion ensemble work as “elegantly vibrant.” Her training in North Indian music includes both formal academic training in India (Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in sitar performance from Santiniketan, India) and the U.S. (Ph.D. in ethnomusicology, UTexas/Austin) and ongoing traditional study with two leading gurus: Grammy-nominated sarode Maestro Aashish Khan and Hindustani vocal diva Padmabhushan Girija Devi. She has performed throughout North America, in India, the UK, Ireland, Poland, and Japan, to critical acclaim. Her Sangeet Millennium Ensemble (Texas Top Ten award, 2008 and 2011 Austin Chronicle Polls) seamlessly blends traditional Indian melodies with jazz/world grooves, creating an ever-evolving boundary defying sound. She is a selected artist on the Texas Commission on the Arts Touring Roster and Mid-America Arts Alliance, an Empaneled Artist of the India World Cultural Forum. She served as City of Austin Cultural Contractor ((phone number hidden)3) and New Mexico Arts Division Artist-in-Residence (1986-91).

Amie's music credits include four CDs (two classical and two Indo-jazz fusion) and producing, directing, and composing soundtrack for a number of independent films. Currently, she is based in Dallas, TX, and frequently tours both nationally and internationally. She travels regularly to India, where she continues her study of North Indian music and researches the music and music-makers.
Amie and Sangeet Millennium perform in concert, at educational and cultural programs, gallery openings, weddings, corporate and nonprofit events, tasteful social gatherings, and more. In order to book Amie and Sangeet Millennium for an engagement, a contract must be signed and 50% of the fees must be received a minimum of two weeks prior to the engagement. The remaining 50% is due the day of the event prior to the start of the performance. The musicians will arrive at least 45 minutes before the performance to set up and do sound check .
Depending on the client's needs and budget, Amie can arrange the following ensembles for an event:
Two Piece (sitar and tabla, with some vocals (if requested )
Three Piece (sitar, saxophone or vocals, and tabla)
Four Piece (sitar, saxophone, tabla, and bass or vocals)
Five Piece (sitar, saxophone, tabla, bass, and vocals or guitar)
Six Piece ( sitar, saxophone, tabla, bass, vocals, and guitar)
Artists' Fees: The following fees are minimum estimates, and they exclude travel and lodging/food expenses for engagements more than 50 miles from downtown Dallas. These will be negotiated at the time of booking. The ensemble is also available for statewide, regional, national, and international tours, for which fees will be negotiated at the time of booking.
$300 Amie on sitar for up to one hour. Client provides professional-level tabla, sound system, and engineer.
$550 minimum booking (Sitar and tabla only for one hour. Client provides sound system and engineer.)
$50 per musician for each additional hour.

Setup/Sound check Option: $50-75 per musician – see Note 1
Note 1: The setup and sound check option is required if the band must travel to the venue location two different times, i.e., once to set up and the next time to perform.
We need a raised platform/stage to sit on, preferably covered by a clean, attractive carpet. If client provides sound, we need a minimum of 3 mics (2 instrumental and one vocal)--more if the ensemble is larger--with low boom or gooseneck stands, an RCA cable for my pickup's DI box, speakers, and preferably 2 stage monitors.
In a classical performance, Amie typically plays a main raga for 20-40 minutes, followed by two shorter ragas (5-15 minutes each).
In a fusion performance, Amie & Sangeet Millennium play selections from their repertoire, which includes classical and folk melodies arranged in a fusion manner, as well as originals created by the ensemble.
