We're all "9 to 5ers" and really look forward to getting together on the weekend to ROCK! Having been in bands together in the past, in different combinations, all the pieces fell naturally into place, and AFTER PARTY was born!
Nate and Rick sat next each other for 5 years in the Lincoln Junior-Senior High School band, both playing clarinet. The two played guitar as well, and challenged each other outside of school to be better musicians, and not just guitarists. They were involved in their HS Variety Show, with Rick the Music Director in his junior year, the only junior to do so in the school's 50 years. The following year, Nate took over the Music Director position as a senior while Rick moved into the show's Director's chair.
Meanwhile, the two Johns, affectionately differentiated as Mac and JB, played in the Mount St. Charles Academy school band. The pair achieved All-State level in their respective instruments, and played in a few garage bands with Mac on guitar.
Shortly after high school, Rick met Mac and JB through a mutual friend and joined their band, The Left Hooks. The new addition meant time for a change, and the band was then known as 44 West, playing an addictive style of California pop punk with sugary lyrics about heartbreak and life as a teenager.
After only a few short months and a handful of shows, Mac left 44 West to join the Air Force. The band broke up. At this point, Nate and JB were attending college and Rick had started on a road of retail and customer service.
Nate and Rick got back together and started what eventually became Cheap Service, a young and heavy-hitting cover group that also ended too soon when the singer left to start a solo career in Florida. The two continued playing and joined new musicians to form Commonwealth, which eventually fizzled after nearly 3 years. Rick joined Taunton-based cover band Say What? and Nate decided to take a break and spend more time with his growing family.
Mac was in and out of different colleges during this time and also in and out of different bands, including some with JB. A few memorable, if not noteworthy, years passed while JB toured with his band, The Coming Weak.
