Eric B. Harvey is a native Texan currently living in Houston. He attended the New York Film Academy ("NYFA") in Los Angeles, California where he studied the art of acting under Mark Bacci (writer, director and producer), John Henry Richardson (actor, writer, director, producer and editor), and Anthony Montes (actor, writer, director, producer and casting director). After graduating the NYFA, Eric was blessed to star in the critically acclaimed film “Wiqqer”, by Emmy-award winning director Omowale Akintunde. He played as "Antoine" opposite the late Meshach Taylor, (who made a name for himself as "Anthony Bouvier" on the television series Designing Women and as "Mr. Wright" on the television series Ned's Declassified School Survivor Guide) and opposite Anna Marie Horsford (well-known for her role as " Thelma Frye" on the television series Amen, as well as in the role of "Deirdre 'Dee' Baxter" on the television series The Wayans Bros. and the role of "A.D.A. Beth Encardi" on the television series The Shield.
Projects written, directed and produced Eric B. Harvey has attracted the attention of Bill Duke, the legendary African American Godfather of American Cinema. Bill Duke first broke into television in the early eighties directing episodes of well-known television shows including Miami Vice, Cagney and Lacey and Hill Street Blues. After cutting his directorial teeth on the small screen, Duke directed the crime dramas, A Raqe in Harlem and Deep Cover. Bill Duke recently received a Lifetime Achievement Tribute from the Directors Guild of America, giving him equal footing with directors Stephen Spielberg, Alfred Hitchcock, and Clint Eastwood. In working with Bill Duke he has become not just a mentor, but a personal friend to Eric.
Being behind the camera as a director and producer has naturally spawned an interest in photography. With a keen eye for framing, Eric B. Harvey brings a unique perspective to the table that draws out a subject's character in a way that resonates with others. In this digital age of "celebrities," sometimes people lose sight of their own uniqueness - where their true beauty resides. For example, Eric began doing headshots for actors after a client was told by a potential agent that his headshot was too “Photoshopped”. Not only was he happier with the results, but he also landed an agent.
You know, passion is the only force that will drive you to leave your comfort zone and discover the character that makes you powerful and unique. Eric B. Harvey has been blessed in the relationships that he has formed through acting, writing, directing, producing and photography. Eric is excited to use his gifts to empower and inspire others.
