Music:
160 South is dedicated to providing our audiences with the best quality sound for the money. We normally play three-hour gigs consisting of three 45 minute sets with two fifteen minute breaks between the sets. We play driving Southern Rock with lots of soaring guitar solos and crafty drum fills. Along with Southern Rock, 160 South also plays many traditional and more modern country tunes by artists such as Merle Haggard, Brad Paisley, Clint Black, and more.
Logistics:
Our fees range anywhere from $300-600 depending on how far away and long the venue is. We will play anywhere within a 700 mile radius, however an up-charge will be applied to compensate travel expenses. We have our own equipment, so all we ask is that the host provides an adequate stage and electricity.
160 South is all about the music. Our favorite thing to do is play good music with good people. For us, putting a smile on peoples' faces is the best pay there is. Making people happy is what we're all about!
160 South was started by four Meyersdale High School students in October of 2012. Kenny Christner, Hunter Lantz, Kendall Swick, and Chris Blaney began playing music together in a room in Kenny's garage. The band quickly put together a short set list and finally performed live for the first time in December of 2012. From there, the band quickly grew in popularity around the Meyersdale/Somerset area. In June of 2013, Hunter temporarily left the band to go through basic training for the National Guard. During his absence, Dusty Lantz joined the band as Hunter's replacement. At this time, the band began expanding their repertoire of music, adding more difficult pieces such as the famous Allman Brother's song "Jessica". The band also started featuring Dusty on a few of their songs as lead vocalist and guitar. In October, Hunter returned to the band after completing basic training over the summer. With Hunter's return, the band continued playing gigs for the next several months until the summer of 2014 when the band had a change in line up and partially disbanded. In the Fall of that year however, the band revived it's original line up and played their first gig together again in December 2014. After that show, the band slowed down once again. In April 2015, the band played their first gig in four months, only this time as an acoustic trio consisting of Kenny, Chris, and Kendall. After the April gig, the band once again dried up to almost the point of disbanding over the summer. However, with another breath of life and fresh ideas, the band is once again back at it with all new material.
We own our own sound equipment, so all you have to do is provide the venue!
