The Ted Vaughn Blues Band consists of five professional musicians with decades of recording and performing experience among them.
Known for their raucous, high energy live performances, they are gaining legions of fans worldwide. Individually, the members have shared venues with top artists such as John Fogerty (CCR), Timothy B. Schmidt (The Eagles), Doug MacLeod, and Grammy nominee John Nemeth. The Band has electrified blues lovers at some of the largest festivals in the country as well as smaller, more intimate venues.
In September, 2011, due to the popularity of their original music, the band was listed as one of the "Top Ten" bands for worldwide airplay on Jango internet radio.
Their long awaited CD, "The Ted Vaughn Blues Band" was recently released on Harbinger Northwest Records and was recorded by the Platinum Award winning production team of Leon-Forrest and Paul Carlsen (Nirvana , Greg Allman, The Doors). It has garnered critical acclaim worldwide and received a nomination for "CD of the Year" by Indie Music Digest
Band Members
Ted Vaughn - Vocals and Blues Harp : Ted was born and raised in Texas and was heavily influenced by the blues sounds of "Lightnin' Hopkins", "Howlin' Wolf", his namesake, Stevie Ray Vaughan as well as country artists such as Waylon Jennings. Ted formed a friendship with the late Texas bluesman Willie Willis (The Wildcatters) and studied technique on the harmonica from such notable players as Charlie Musselwhite, Sam Meyers (Anson Funderburg and the Rockets) and James Harman.
Clay "Bone" King - Guitars and Vocals: Clay was raised in Southern California where he found a love for the guitar and studied jazz with Warne Marsh, sax player for Charlie Parker. He also studied under jass virtuoso Joe Pass and Jimmy Wyble (Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys). He has shared stages with many of the worlds finest musicians including Doug MacLeod and Corey Stevens. His musical influences include Albert King, Lightnin' Hopkins and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He continues to be one of the most in demand guitarists on the West coast and his performances with "The Ted Vaughn Blues Band" leave audiences spellbound.
Leon Forrest - Keyboards and Vocals: Loen formed his first band, "The Apollos" in the early 1960's. The band backed up national acts and rubbed shoulders with performers such as "The Yardbirds" and Janis Joplin. They often shared venues with "The Golliwogs" who later became "Creedence Clearwater Revival". Later, Leon formed the band "Firewind" which caught the attention of Gabriel Mekler, producer of "Three Dog Night" and "Steppenwolf". Today, Leon makes music from Seattle to Nashville and also wears the hat of producer, engineer, studio musician and top dog at Harbinger Northwest Records.
Ted Larson- Bass Guitar and Vocals: One of the most visable and experienced bass players on the West coast, Ted's major claim to fame comes from being an opening act for a band called "The New Breed". " The New Breed" featured a young Timothy B. Schmidt , a founding member of "The Eagles". Ted is a dynamic singer and performer in his own right and has performed and recorded with some of the West coasts top bands.
John King - Drums: John attended the Musicians Institute of Technology and performed with several top L.A. bands including "The L.A. Big Band". He has played and recorded with many top Pacific Northwest groups including Mik Gobel and Gobel Warming. He lays down a mean groove, be it rock , blues, funk or country .

The Ted Vaughn Blues Band is known for their high energy, raucous, live performances. You will hear both original award winning blues as well as blues classics mixed with wild rockabilly and a dash of early rock n 'roll !

Stage/Setup Requirements:
The band has sound systems available for small venues as well as larger festivals
Additional Notes:
The full band has four vocalists and will require an additional mic for the harmonica amp. Stage plot available on request. For smaller, more intimate venues we can appear as an acoustic trio. For festivals and larger venues we are available as a four or five piece act.If desired, we can bring out a blazin' horn section as well !

Set list is extensive and includes our award winning original music as well as classic blues , rockabilly and early rock n' roll. Some examples would be : Early Blues by Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker and Freddie King. Modern blues by B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert Collins and Paul Butterfield. Early rock n' roll by artists like Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis and rockabilly such as Dwight Yoakam and Johnny Cash.
