A client should nothing but the best from my company. I bring a restaurant experience to your table. From the beginning to the end I want the client to be a part of each aspect. From the minute I am contacted I want the client to feel at ease and be excited about the event they are planning. The menu is decided in a face to face meeting so we can have a more friendly relationship. I am available from the minute I get booked to the minute the event ends.
On the day of the event I make sure everything that I am hired for is taken care of. I do not leave any stones unturned. I please my clients to the fullest. I want them to experience happiness through my food, and that is what I do. I put a smile on your face through amazing, delicious food.
Growing up cooking with family gave me my passion for food, but I didn't realize it was my calling until later in life. I thought fashion design was the field I should be in, so I started in Philadelphia and ventured to London, England to pursue my career. When I was abroad I traveled through Europe to places like Spain, Italy and France. This experience helped me find my soul and inevitably enhanced my love of food. I graduated with a BS in fashion apparel management but I wasn't completely satisfied.
Through all my years growing up I would have dinner parties at least once a week for friends and family. Being in the kitchen and teaching myself recipes brought me into a place of serenity in which I never wanted to leave. I remember, at a young age, helping my grandmother prepare typical Italian Sunday dinners. This foundation was instilled in me. In my late 20's I sought out to divulge myself and round out my culinary dreams with formal training at the Italian Culinary Academy in New York City. My own creative nature plus the certification from the ICA lead me to open up Tara Ciannella LLC, private chef and specialize in real, authentic, home style Italian food.
After about two years as a private chef I was lead once again onto another path. I was given the opportunity to work as a sous chef at Axia Taverna, a high end, new age Greek restaurant in Bergen County, NJ. For over 2 years my talents and abilities grew working with new flavors and a wonderful executive chef who was trained by two of the greats, Eric Ripert and Geoffrey Zakarian. From there I pursued other restaurants, being an executive chef and consultant. Through my experience as a restaurant chef, I have incorporated new skills, abilities, and recipes to my private chef business. I am back to now showcase all I have learned over the years and bring to your table new innovative, mouthwatering dishes.
In 2017 I competed on CHOPPED, episode 3510, and finished 2nd, runner up. I was also given the opportunity to cook live on Good Day NY!
I am once again showcasing my food and bring my flavors to all different people. I offer all types of services from individual cooking classes, romantic dinners, private parties to catering all types of events.
Once I am contacted by you, I will come over to your house to start the planning. We will decide on a menu, one from the choices I provide or one that we choose together. Each and every menu is focused on your wants and needs as a client. From that point on I look over the kitchen, researching what type of appliances you own and what I would need to bring to the event. Next, I will provide you with an estimate for the service you are requesting. I will then shop for the freshest ingredients, come to your home and prepare the delicious meals you have asked for. I leave with your kitchen completely spotless and you, my client, feeling happiness and fulfillment.

My biggest influences definitely came from my childhood. Food was a big part of both sides of my family. My father came from an Italian family where as a child Sunday dinners were something everyone looked forward to. I remember even as a small child how food and the act of cooking and sharing it could bring smiles to people's faces. With my mother it was different. She did not cook but my neighbors, my godparents from Italy, had a 3.5 acre farm. There I learned where food came from; the knowledge of food and how to grow vegetables and fruits. This gave me a true love of the natural flavors of everything you put in your mouth and the want to bring those flavors to others.
