Son de Brooklyn brings the great music of Latin America to New York City: Salsa (what the Cubans call guaracha)mambo, cha cha cha, bolero, bossa nova, merengue, and Latin jazz. Our primary focus, though, is son, the hypnotic dance music of Cuba. If you like the Buena Vista Social Club, you will love Son de Brooklyn. Let us make any event more lively and festive with traditional Cuban and Latin American music (with a Brooklyn twist, of course).
About
Son de Brooklyn features the sound of "el son", the infectious groove music of Cuba, mixed with the harmonic sophistication of the American jazz tradition. We boast some of the best young talent in latin music who have recorded with legends like Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Wynton Marsalis, Eddie Palmieri, and Cachao, as well as pop stars like Shakira, Mark Anthony, and Beyoncé.
The band is also proud to announce that its debut cd, “Los Hipsters No Bailan”, recorded in both Havana's famed EGREM studios and in New York, is now on Itunes. We are the only local band to have recorded in Cuba in the last decade, and the authenticity and swing of the music speaks for itself.

Son de Brooklyn brings the tropical party to you. The band features fresh and classic arrangements of both vintage and nearly-forgotten Cuban sones, rumbas, boleros, and cha-cha-chas, and merengues as well as a host of original material in these and other styles.
