About

Siena Moon has had a passion for performing and movement arts since childhood. She grew up in a suburb south of Boston and participated in dance, gymnastics and cheerleading throughout her youth. After college, she attended a music festival where she saw hoop dance for the first time, and she was hooked. She bought a hoop as soon as she got home from the trip, and the rest is history.

Her current endeavors include a daily hoop practice, developing poi technique, training for aerial dance (silks in particular) and practicing anusara & vinyasa flow yoga. When she's not at a show or festival she enjoys spending time with her dog at home, designing costumes, crafting, and painting. She enjoys learning new things everyday from the inspiring people around her in Boston's creative movement and arts community.

In February of 2011 she took the next step in her creative path by undergoing teacher training to share her love of the hoop via classes & workshops. She became a certified Hoop Instructor through Circles of Joy Hoopdance & Poi and is available for private lessons, workshops and classes for all levels and ages.

For the 2011 holiday season she took a dive into Boston's cabaret scene as a dancer in The Slutcracker, a parodic burlesque version of the Nutcracker. The production ran 17 shows during the month of December, got rave reviews and sold out all but a few of its shows.

In 2011 she also joined forces with the Boston Hoop Troop, a local collective of hoop dancers deeply involved in community events and hooping all over the city. With the Troop she has participated in many events ranging from nightclub go-go dancing gigs to volunteering efforts at the Boys & Girls Club of Boston.

Siena Moon is fully insured for performing with and without fire through American Fire Artists and can supply insurance documentation upon request. She is also a member of the NAFAA (North American Fire Arts Association) and strictly follows all safety rules and guidelines outlined by this organization in all of her performances.

What to Expect

Typical Gig Duration: 15 - 480 minutes

Audience members will be spellbound by the magic of hoop dance and the grace of aerial silks and lyra. The use of multiple hoops, creating interesting shapes and defying what you thought possible, is sure to entertain everyone at your next event. Great for all ages to enjoy, from kids' parties, to festivals, nightclubs, bachelor/bachelorette parties, corporate events and more!

Stage/Setup Requirements:
See above for tech regarding different styles of performance.

Additional Notes:
For hooping, adequate stage space (approx 5'x5' or larger square, well lit floor space with at least 9' above clearance) or platform of similar size is required. Hoops are often tossed in the air during a dynamic performance so height matters!

For aerial, ceiling must be at least 20' in height and able to hold at least 500 lbs. A beam or other similar structure must be available to rig and loop the spanset that holds the rigging. Client is to provide a ladder and landing mat (preferred) for rigging purposes. Inquire for more info.

LED hooping: roving performance through a crowd (freestyle), ambient go-go style hooping on a platform or stage (freestyle), or a choreographed piece performed to music

Fire hooping, fire poi, fire eating: freestyle, in a roped off area outside at an event (includes safety)

Aerial: freestyle/improv, where rigging points allow
